Senior Technical Manager, Best of Breed Software Solutions: 2012 – 2013 Primary responsibility was to impart training to prospective employees on Unix shell scripting skills. Had complete responsibility for designing the course, imparting the training, and testing the candidates on the expertise achieved. Senior Technical Consultant, Standard Bank of South Africa, Johannesburg: 2007 – 2011 Hired as an expert on Bankmaster (core banking software) – first as a consultant from Misys and then as a direct employee – was involved in developing software solutions to integrate external software with Bankmaster, on a real time basis. Was instrumental in developing several solutions that were deployed in all the subsidiaries of Standard Bank across several African countries. Helped resolve a critical problem when a software updated was rolled out to all subsidiaries without testing, and caused major breakdown. Head – I.T., Societe Generale Bank of Nigeria, Lagos, Nigeria: 2003 – 2006 Was recruited to clean up and improve the bank’s Bankmaster installation. When the Bank’s license to do business was revoked by the Central Bank, was inducted into the top management team and provided all IT support to help restructure and resurrect the bank. This included challenges like providing all kinds of reports from systems which were prone to failure due to power failures, expired software licenses and absence of staff. Manager, Operations and Finance, Orient Bank, Kampala, Uganda: 1997 – 2000 Was responsible for all day to day operations of the bank. Primary functions included cash management, liaising with Central Bank, reporting to Central Bank and managing Bank’s audit. Devised systems to streamline reporting to Central Bank. These systems were then held up by the Central bank as examples to other banks. Senior Manager, I.T., Bank of Baroda: 1976 – 1996 Starting in the Junior Management Cadre in 1976, progressed through different assignments and positions in different locations of the bank in India, and finally reached the position of Senior Manager, I.T. in Kampala, Uganda. Major achievement in the last assignment was to computerize two branches of the Bank using Bankmaster software, without any training or support from the vendors.
