October 2015 – April 2016: Communication for Development Programme Manager, C4D Network/C4D Agency This role involves managing the agencies consultancy projects for UNICEF, developing the organisation’s websites and training our clients in communication for development practices. September 2014 – July 2015: Digital Worldwide Campaign Content Manager (act.oxfam.org), Oxfam International Oxfam International launched a worldwide digital campaigning platform, which was designed to increase the impact of Oxfam’s global campaigns. I worked on the innovation and implementation of the platform, working with teams across continents on campaigns ranging from the Syria refugee crisis, global inequality and tax dodging, to women’s rights in East Africa. Main duties included designing digital campaign strategies, creating and editing content and building digital campaigning capacity across the Oxfam confederation through training courses. June 2012 – September 2014: Digital Press Officer and Communications Advisor, Oxfam GB This was a varied and diverse role that works across the News and PR teams at Oxfam GB, focusing on campaigning and social media activity. Key aspects of the role included: securing online coverage of Oxfam’s work, providing video, audio and social media support for members of the media unit and developing and maintaining contacts with key online outlets and journalists. I also developed digital media strategies and created partnerships with YouTube, Google and Spotify, creating innovative ways of communicating Oxfam's messages. Moreover, I trained staff globally in story gathering techniques, how to use social media and how to be media spokespeople. January 2014 – April 2014: Media Advisor for the Syria crisis, Oxfam GB I was seconded to the role of Media Advisor for the Syria crisis with Oxfam. This was a regional role that managed a small media team across Jordan and Lebanon. I was responsible for coordinating media communications, facilitating journalist trips and working closely with campaigns and policy teams to advise on how our work on the crisis is portrayed to external actors. I also worked closely with programme colleagues to ensure that the voices of the people we are working to support are heard in our media communications. During this secondment I also advised the programme team on mass communication approaches to improve our interaction with affected communities. July 2011 - May 2012 (whilst studying for Masters degree): Freelance Video Editor for the Major Donors Team at World Vision UK I was commissioned to complete video editing on a wide range of developmental projects including a water and sanitation project in Ethiopia, a food security programme in Bolivia, and a micro-finance project in Sierra Leone. The aim of these films was to increase funding and to improve communication with donors to ensure they were aware of the progress of the Area Development Projects they were funding. May 2010 - September 2011: News Editor / Broadcast Journalist, JackFM and Glide FM As the manager of a news team across two radio stations, I was responsible for the production and broadcast of all on-air and on-line news content, including extensive social media updates. The position involved reacting rapidly to breaking news and setting the local news agenda. This was achieved through the efficient maintenance and management of an extensive contact network from the Prime Minister, emergency service personnel, and NGOs. I trained new personnel and our pool of freelancers in newsgathering techniques and how to use the radio stations technical equipment. April 2009 - May 2010: News Editor, Banbury Sound During my time as news editor at Banbury Sound I contributed significantly to the re-branding and re-launching of the radio station, this included gaining press and media coverage for our re-launch. I initiated, set-up and launched news reading from the station and established the news office. Technical responsibilities included managing the company’s website and social media accounts to encourage community participation. November 2008 - April 2009: Broadcast Journalist, Touch Radio Banbury This position involved researching and producing news stories to tight deadlines for broadcast within Oxfordshire and Northamptonshire. September 2008 - November 2008: Freelance Broadcast Journalist During this time I freelanced as a reporter, newsreader and producer at a variety of stations including BBC Oxford, Fox FM, BBC Northampton and Mix 96. I also worked at BBC Look East television news, researching stories, assisting live broadcasts, and generating news packages for the regional programme. July 2007 - September 2008: Reporter, BBC Three Counties Radio BBC Three Counties radio was a speech only station that allowed me to quickly acquire skills in a wide range of roles. These included; producing the stations flagship programme, reporting and producing breaking news live on air and researching and reporting news items.
