Challenges Encountered –
Language barriers in non-English speaking Latin American countries; this was resolved by taking
inputs from regional healthcare experts on panel and our onshore team in LATAM region
Lack of biologics/biosimilar specific information such as tender process and regulatory approval in
under developing countries was a serious concern
Since the project involves several molecules and diverse stakeholders, we had to prepare multiple
questionnaires to address different end-users. Hence, collating information from multiple sources
and analyzing it to arrive at actionable inputs was a challenging task
Availability of information in key LATAM countries in secondary research is very less, so more
numbers of interviews were conducted so as to get hold of information which is not publicly available
and difficult to access through usual primary research approach
Key Take-Away:
Currently, Latin American biologics/biosimilars does not experience any regulatory stringency. Also,
strong reimbursement support from respective governments aid its rapid adoption
Latin American biologics/biosimilars is significantly dependent on local production and also,
government favours local manufacturers in tendering process. Hence, collaboration with local
players and public private partnerships help foreign players to enter this market space
