Pragya Bisen

My interest in movies, books and world affairs eventually landed me in Fanshawe College, Ontario from where I completed my post-graduation in Pre-Media and Broadcast Journalism - Television News. It was then when I got a chance to work as a reporter and a news anchor for Rogers TV for an afternoon show. Gathering stories from all across the city and compiling to produce a Tv show was one of the best learning experiences of my life. It changed my perspective about a very big part of the industry that is, you can actually make a difference in the world by sharing stories and being unbiased.

Being in front of the camera was another one of these experiments when I chose to act in a few short films and college projects. I decided to start an you-tube channel for World News and Entertainment Stories where we produced content, edited and compiled videos for weekly uploads. 

Previously, I got a chance to work with a production house Terribly Tiny Talkies as an assistant director and made a short film on the very sensitive issue of Hindu-Muslim unity. The film released on Independence Day and was critically acclaimed everywhere. Working with such a big brand made me realize one thing – you can never be too tired to work if you love what you are doing.  

I have also worked as a content writer with Knocksense for two years, a website where my articles based on lifestyle and current affairs were published. Valuing time and money is the most important and I learnt this when I was submitting my assignments to college as well as meeting work deadlines at the same time. Besides all this, communicating with different people and persuading them to tell their stories was a part of my work. 

Prior to these, I have worked as a content developer where I wrote lifestyle, fashion and entertainment articles for many websites as parts of my internships, and articles based on life and abstract for SMJ Scribe Station – a website run by a senior journalist and a leader in his field. I have always tried to utilize my time to the fullest by doing these small jobs as a student.
