About

As a Bachelor’s graduate in English Language and Literature and a Master’s degree holder in International and Comparative Education, I have already gained experience in the field of English language teaching and in the broader domain of education. My degrees have been obtained at respectable and recognized universities: the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece; and the Stockholm University, Sweden. The first degree has also been officially recognized in Sweden by the Swedish Council of Higher Education (UHR). I have also become further qualified as an English teacher by the Hellenic American Union, having been awarded the Diploma of TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages).

Additionally, I have acquired positions related to education, content creation and management, which have formed me into a well-versed individual in matters that go beyond the premises of teaching and education. In particular, I have interned at the Science Department of the UNESCO office in Venice, Italy, where I learned and became a part of such a large organization in the field of education. Some of my duties included assessing STEM activities, drafting guidelines to promote gender equality in science education, monitoring and processing of information, writing press releases, keeping minutes and creating content for the UNESCO Venice Office website. Through this position, I have gained general understanding of the work and mission of UNESCO as an international organization and gained hands-on experience and insight into issues of cooperation at regional level and education around the world.

Additionally, I have also worked for EF as an Assistant Academic Manager in an extremely fast-paced and demanding environment. In this position, I played a major role in teacher and student support through workshops, classroom management, allocation of times and tasks and other initiatives.

My journey in the writing field started when I succeeded in landing an internship with Blooming Twig Books, an independent publisher based in New York. I interned in the Editorial department where I assisted in the creation of content for blog posts, social media texts, and marketing articles and advertisements. In addition to this, I also edited manuscripts from prospective authors as well as other documents and interns’ texts.

I am currently working as a freelance writer for The Typewriter where I contribute stories on a number of matters, ranging from education to travel to current affairs tackling the realities of two countries: Sweden and Greece. Going deeper into the matter of education, I am also regularly freelance writing for Oxford Open Learning.

Lastly, I have been working as an English teacher for the past 4 years, teaching students of all ages and levels, specializing in adults and business English. This has helped me understand and adapt to several behaviours and learning styles which I have used in several other positions.
