Phyllis Toh

Being an independent and purpose-driven individual, I take great pride in my work and always strive to deliver exceptional results. Being proficient at communication in three different languages, I can work well in teams- as both a leader and a follower. I am constantly seeking to learn a variety of new skills from the best professionals and am currently looking for internship opportunities to experience work in different industries of my interest while pursuing my part-time degree at SUSS.

I am always eager to learn new things out of my existing set of skills. While pursuing my studies at Ngee Ann Polytechnic, I have had the honour to take the lead in the Piano Club as a Publicity Director, during which I self-learnt how to use adobe photoshop and premiere pro to edit photos and videos for our club's publicity purposes, through some online resources and exploration; these media processes ranged from simple edits to complex ones. With the efforts of the team and putting my skills from my sales jobs to publicise our events, my team and I managed to successfully sell out a full house for a major piano recital- the first time in our club's history. I also self-learnt how to play the piano on my own since age 12, and had the opportunity to perform challenging pieces on stage at such piano recitals. On the side, I am still actively self-studying for the International Japanese Language Proficiency Tests and I have attained a level N3 certificate thus far.

While studying, I have taken up part-time retail jobs and a job in marketing on the side for about more than 5 years now and I have worked closely with a wide variety of customers from several different countries, of varying social statuses. From these jobs, I learnt how to efficiently multitask and work under high-pressure in fast-paced environments. My managers also trust me to do several tasks, of which I always do my best to deliver more than is expected of me. I was placed in charge of training new staff with the basics of the job and allowed to assist in complicated tasks when required.
