Greetings! I'm Phil Pruett.
When I was very young, spelling and grammar felt very natural to me. I was always quick to correct mistakes in papers I had written all through school, and began doing the same for others as I grew up. As a student-athlete (Men's Gymnastics) at Temple University, I earned my bachelor's degree in sport & recreation management with a concentration in governance and policy. This particular field of study required multiple hands-on experiences that consisted of several large and detailed reports.
After completing my coursework at Temple, I spent one whole semester working in the sports information offices at Wingate University, where I wrote and contributed to several sports-related articles that were published on the university's athletics website. It was during that time where I really began to see how much I enjoyed writing and had a particular affinity to words. Combining that with a lifelong passion for athletics was an eye-opening experience that I thoroughly enjoyed.
Later, I enrolled in an online course through Proofread Anywhere called General Proofreading: Theory and Practice, and was awarded a Certificate of Excellence after completing the course and passing my final exam. I created my website (WordPhilter.com) soon after, and officially began my journey as a professional proofreader and editor.
*FUN FACT: Prior to becoming a professional word nerd, I worked as a full-time cast member at Walt Disney World (Disney Photo Imaging).
