I am a front-end developer with a solid UX background. I love to put the customer first when it comes to developing software. I have worked for a number of large and small companies both in the UK and Australia, including Macquarie Bank the ABC and British Airways.
As well as developing my own front-end frameworks before the likes of Backbone even existed, I have done many years of jQuery and lately React with Redux (over the last 12 months) building applications which are both multi-platform (PC/tablet/phone) and multi-browser. One of my biggest achievements was helping the Market Risk Team at a major bank in Sydney, Australia transition from Excel spreadsheets to a systems world. This required some very innovative front-end design and coding - some examples being:
I also love to educate people and have worked for thinkful.com mentoring adults in web development and over the last year have started my own business teaching young people coding and robotics. Most of our business is carried out during school holiday periods in NSW, Australia - please check out our site (nexgencodecamp.com.au)
I am frequently creating mini-sites, developing ideas around the Internet of Things, designing and developing courses and expanding my skillset. My personal GitHub profile is https://github.com/peetj. My startup's GitHub profile is https://github.com/nexgencodecamp. We have developed a number of 2D arcade style games - most of the code was developed by myself.
As well as javascript, I have worked with a number of other languages such as Objective-C (building mobile apps), Java, PHP, Visual Basic, Modula-2, Smalltalk and Actionscript.
Ideally I am looking for up to 20 hours work per week to fit around my responsibilities for Nexgen Codecamp.
Away from work, I am a husband and father of 4. I am an amateur musician & improving cook!
