ChildFund International USA, Richmond, Virginia, USA, 2010-April-, Vice-President Global Operations (Richmond VA, USA): As VP Global
Operations I had the final responsibility for ChildFund’s field operations in 20 countries. I
supervised 3 Regional Directors. In addition, I also supervised our Emergency Management Unit,
Global Safety and Security Director and Global Safeguarding Advisor-, Joining Forces, Chair Steering Committee: I acted as Chair of the Steering
Committee of the Joining Forces initiative (JF). JF is a collaboration between the 6 largest child-
focused INGOs (Plan International, World Vision, Save the Children, ChildFund Alliance, SOS
Children Villages, Terre des Hommes). The collaboration focuses on joint programming and
advocacy in 30 countries on prevention of violence against children and promotion of child rights.
As Chair I supervised the global secretariat and reported to the CEO oversight committee-, Vice-President Program Development (a.i.) (Washington DC, USA): As VicePresident I led the Program Development division with 5 areas of responsibility: 1. Program
strategy and effectiveness; 2. Monitoring and evaluation; 3. Advocacy; 4. Grants Acquisition and
Management; 5. Safety and security-, Regional Director, Americas (Regional Office, Panamá City, Panamá): As
Regional Director I provided strategic leadership and operational oversight of all Country Office
programs and operations within the region, management of financial and human resources,
emergency preparedness and response programs and development and coordination of risk

I was seconded to Plan’s organization in the Netherlands to assist them with the preparation of a
Euro 50 Million grant proposal on Girls Empowerment. The Dutch government grant was awarded
by the Dutch Government, I was also responsible for supervising the implementation of the
programmes funded by Plan Netherlands as well as the management of their technical team.

Director I was responsible for the development of Plan’s global program policies and strategies,
organisational learning, technical networks as well as the development of Plan’s capacity to
assess program effectiveness and impact. I also supervised the design and implementation of

supervision of a Child Centred Community Development program in his area. I supervised a field

At the time, the Cali Field Office implemented the largest program of Plan worldwide-: Assistant Director (Field Office Sucre, Bolivia): As Assistant Director I assisted
the Field Director in the planning, implementation and supervision of a Child Centred Community
Development program in his area.
Centro Internacional de Agricultura Tropical, Cali, Colombia- Visiting Scientist (Atlantic Coast Region, Colombia, based in San Juan de
Betulia and Sincelejo, Sucre): Design and implementation of a Monitoring and Evaluation
system for a rural development project in which 45 small peasants associations participated in
the development of a small-scale cassava-drying industry in partnership with Fondo DRI
(Integrated Rural Development Fund)- M.A. Thesis Research (San Juan de Betulia, Sucre, Colombia); Research into the
organization of peasants associations participating in the pilot phase of the development of a
small-scale cassava-drying industry.
