My name is Ömer Karataş, and I am currently a third-year student in the English Translation and Interpreting program at Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal University in Türkiye. My academic background has provided me with a strong foundation in both linguistic theory and practical translation techniques, while my work experience has allowed me to apply these skills in real-world contexts. I am passionate about languages, cross-cultural communication, and developing the ability to bridge meaning between English and Turkish in a clear and accurate way.
Since April 2025, I have been working as a freelance translator, specializing in English-Turkish translations across different fields. In this role, I have handled multiple projects simultaneously and have learned how to manage deadlines effectively without sacrificing quality. I frequently use online tools to ensure terminology consistency, and I enjoy adapting to different subjects, from technical texts to more creative content. This freelance experience has also strengthened my self-discipline, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
Previously, I worked as a front desk receptionist at Bolu Abant Sedir Park Hotel, where I supported international guests with real-time interpreting and daily communication. This experience taught me how to remain calm and professional in fast-paced environments, as well as how to handle multilingual interactions smoothly. It also gave me valuable customer service skills and the ability to think quickly when faced with unexpected challenges.
