Pizza Sales Analysis Project: Methodology 1. Data Collection & Understanding ● Used pizza sales data (Jan–Dec 2015) from four related CSV files: Orders, Order_Details, Pizzas, and Pizza_Types. ● Defined business questions around sales trends, product performance, and customer insights. 2. Data Preparation (Excel) ● Imported datasets into Excel and performed profiling. ● Cleaned data by handling missing values, duplicates, and formatting issues. ● Validated relationships between tables and created calculated fields (e.g., total revenue, order time breakdown). 3. Exploratory Analysis (Excel) ● Generated descriptive statistics and pivot tables for sales, revenue, and order trends. ● Created initial charts to identify top-selling pizzas, category contributions, and seasonal patterns. 4. Advanced Analytics (Excel) ● Analyzed percentage revenue contributions and product performance. ● Identified peak hours, seasonal trends, and high-value customers. ● Segmented orders by size, time, and value to uncover deeper insights. 5. Dashboard Development (Power BI) ● Imported cleaned data into Power BI and built a relational model. ● Designed interactive dashboards with: ○ Executive Summary (KPIs: revenue, orders, best sellers) ○ Sales Trends (daily, monthly, peak hours, seasonality) ○ Product & Customer Insights (top/bottom products, preferences, behavior) ● Added filters, drill-downs, and dynamic visuals for stakeholder use. 6. Insights & Recommendations ● Key findings: Thai Chicken Pizza generated the highest revenue, lunch-time peaks were dominant, and October showed significant seasonal drops. ● Recommendations: focus marketing on best-sellers, optimize staffing for peak hours, and adjust the menu for underperforming products. 7. Reporting & Presentation ● Created a Power BI dashboard, an executive PowerPoint presentation, and a written business intelligence report. ● Delivered insights in a storytelling format with actionable strategies for revenue growth and operational efficiency. 8. Quality Assurance ● Cross-checked results between Excel and Power BI. ● Documented methodology, data sources, and transformation steps for reproducibility.
