Passionate does not even begin to describe the kind of developer I am. I’ve only been doing it for 7 years,
growing from a junior at New Zealand’s largest tourism company, Tourism Holdings Limited, to Touchpoint
Group, a medium sized digital agency as a Front End and Email Developer., to my current role as a Front End
and Email Developer at New Zealand’s largest bank, ASB Bank Ltd.
I’m a keen learner, hell I’m teaching myself advanced Javascript using numerous online resources such as
FreeCodeCamp, YouTube, Udemy, Codecademy etc, as well as reading books and online articles. This is all in an
effort to move on to learning some of the numerous Javascript frameworks. I had some exposure to Angular at
Touchpoint but I really want to get my hands dirty with a framework and React is currently exciting me a lot to
learn.
I love learning and experimenting with new things. I have a long list of future development plans such as
Javascript frameworks, PHP, Ruby on Rails and a load more, which you can find in my Resume. I’m really hoping
you can help me flick through that list in the next 12-18 months, at least.
You'll see in my Resume that I'm also an Email Developer. I guess it's a hobby of mine and I love the struggle of
making 20 year old code work in today’s landscape. I love discovering new techniques and sharing it around in
the #emailgeek community.
I’m a fun loving, hardworking employee and I thrive in any environment. I am the social type, the one who likes
to come in early, get the ball rolling then take 5-10 mins to buy a coffee and catch up with my team, the marketing team, HR or even the CEO. I'm an all-rounder who loves to converse and learn about other areas of the
business.
Please let me know if you would like to setup a video call to learn more about me or just get a feel for my
personality.
This is my career and my passion. I want to experiment and I want to have fun while turning heads, winning
awards and/or accolades where possible.
Please see my code and design examples on the following pages...
FRONT END EXAMPLES...
Credit Card form experiment | (HTML5, CSS3, JS) | This is an idea I sketched up while thinking of experiments
to challenge my knowledge and research capabilities. Still in progress but the basic functionality I proposed are
there. User input, with browser auto complete, is mimicked on the cards, credit card font, back of the credit card
is updated too just in reverse.
Next steps are to add labels to the for fields to make this more accessible (as well as other accessibility
additions), add some animation to the cards by only showing the back of the card once focusing on the
Security code field. This is also built in expanded Javascript so the next step is to refactor the entire codebase,
HTML, CSS and JS. Then once that is done, I will try to build this in React, my chosen JS framework I really want
to gain experience in.
Please keep an eye on this project as I update it.

Lions Tour 2017 (Rugby Union) entry form - Internal (ASB) | (HTML5, CSS) | With the Lions Tour in New
Zealand this time around, we have decided to run a competition to engage our customers to renew their term
deposits by giving them a chance to win game tickets. Our external design agency proposed a map of New
Zealand with the regional prizes showing in the actual region on the map. We would have the customer click on
a button or icon to choose and then submit.
Originally we thought we would have to outsource the build with the short time frame and the limited
customizability in the IBM system we are using for our web forms and email sends. After sitting on it for 24
hours I realised there was a simple non-javascript solution we could use. By passing the old school table
structure IBM spits out to us. So I built a test version and distributed to the marketing managers and the design
agency. Everyone was impressed. First with the fact that this solution will save a lot of our budget and secondly
not giving up even though everyone else had basically put this into the ‘too hard’ basket.
Final designs are due in the next week or so, so keep an eye on this page as I build.

EMAIL EXAMPLES...
My first example is a very recent promotional build for ASB Bank. Fully mobile responsive, including Gmail,
tested in multiple email clients, on multiple devices:

An email designed by our outsourced design agency that I was tasked with building for an annual cultural
festival we were sponsoring:

An email I redesgined for one of our internal comms release. This is actually an Outlook template, so as well as
designing and building this email, I had to keep in mind the fact that this needed to be a reusable template,
editable by our not so technical staff:

A newsletter I built for Udacity, using the Hybrid technique to ensure the email rendered mobile responsive in
all email clients:
