Nikola Begedin Full stack developer, with a current focus on Elixir/Phoenix as a backend and React as a frontend. Several years of Ember and Ruby + Rails experience. WHY YOU MIGHT WANT ME My experience, project and skills are listed in the sidebar. Really though, I feel the largest contribution to any company that I can give is my ability to adjust to new situations. I started out as a .NET developer in a Croatian company. Now I’m a Rails/Elixir/Ember developer building full stack solutions for a consulting company in the USA. I got there by doing extra work on Upwork (then ODesk), which grew in hours and soon turned into a full-time offer. I had very little Javascript experience and no Ruby or general open-source experience whatsoever when I started that Upwork contract. In two months, I was able to become proficient enough to have been offered a full time job. That is my core strength. I’m not opinionated about languages or frameworks and I’m perfectly satisfied and will quickly learn anything you ask of me. In fact, I like to do it in my spare time to. Since I own my own consulting business, other than employment, I’m also interested in work as an external contractor. We’ve recently launched and are dealing with a steady influx of users, which grew to about 30 000 within a month. A collaboration/funding platform for volunteers still in active development. Frontend is Ember.js. Backend started as Ruby+Rails, but has switched to Elixir/Phoenix. A Flask/Alchemy application working with shipping and shipment fulfillments. Storypad - Unreleased Ember App Own project. A collaborative UI sketch app, with the google document model as a backend. Actually in major part worked on developing an ember-data adapter layer for the backend. INTERESTS & SKILLS Running and Cycling I run an average of 50 km / week and participate in amateur races on a regular basis. On my rest days, I ride my bike. Guitar I wouldn’t consider myself good, but I’m getting to a paint where a campfire song is an option. Drawing Same as with guitar. I lack the raw talent, but certainly have the interest to get 80% of the way to being good. Gardening I used to live in the country but now live in a city. I still manage to have a nice balcony vegetable garden, which gives me fresh produce daily throughout the summer.
