Step by step instructions
This is an example of how to activate an override that is already done but expired. Make sure the expiration date and times are accurate as well as the ETA’s and message to dispatcher.
If you do need to make a new override, here is an outline of what needs to be checked off and what does not:
1. Select “NEW OVERRIDE”. “NEW MA OVERRIDE” should not be selected when we are doing an override for one city. That selection ties all cities with the same owner together and shuts down all of them, which is very rare . That is normally done by the owner, managers themselves.
2. TITLE: Title should state a simplified version of the override.
Extended ETA’s, No Roadside or LS, Shut Down, ETC
3. Start Now if it needs to be immediate. Or, you can set it up for a future date/time. Never Expire is rarely used and should be verified by a city manager. Please be extra cautious when putting in your expiration date and time, as we could end up closing cities for too long which is money lost and very upset owners.
4. Manage Requirements: If you are shutting down the entire city, you do not need to select zones. YOU DO NEED TO SELECT TASKS , except MSG. That one should always remain open. It is not necessary to pick zones if the override applies to the entire city and all zones.
5. If you are closing specific zones for specific tasks, then you would select both the zone and task.
6. If you are closing some zones to all road clubs and leaving it open for Core, you would select the zones and all the road clubs. This tends to get a little confusing so please reach out if you are having trouble setting it correctly. It is always good to have your override checked by another support member, even if you check and double check. We all make mistakes.
7. Manage Actions: If you are shutting them down, hit SHUT DOWN,
REPLACE ETAS WITH THE TIME THEY WILL REOPEN {FOR
EXAMPLE: AFTER 6AM}, AND SELECT: MESSAGE THE
DISPATCHER WITH THE DETAILS AND WRITE SPECIFICS {EX: NO
ROADSIDE OR LS UNTIL 6AM, PER ______ }. ALWAYS STATE WHO REQUESTED THE SHUT DOWN. Some cities only allow certain people to approve overrides, so make sure you check the BB for those specifics and don’t shut down a city unless they are OK to do so.
8. If you are changing the ETA or extending the ETA, it is easier just to put in the total ETA time instead of figuring out how much the ETA needs to increase. If you’re like me and can’t count higher than your fingers, this can get complicated so save yourself some time and just replace ETA. When replacing the ETA, most of the time it is for Roadside, so you would also select all roadside tasks under requirements.
There are more complicated overrides, such as blocking specific vehicles from locksmith jobs, or addresses that should be refused service, but those are normally done on the side by the city itself or by their delegated authority.
As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to your fellow support personnel and they will be happy to assist you.
