HOPE FOR THE FLOWERS
“It takes a lot of butterflies to make a world full of flowers.”
Here in this context a world that is full of flowers can be
perceived as a world that is pleasant to the eyes –a healthy home
that can nourish its beings and make them into greater ones. And
the butterflies that made them are nothing but Men of courage –ones
who have strong conviction and personality, shaped by nature over a
long period of time experiencing a lot of different and painful
changes that made them strong and beautiful like butterflies.
The story entitled “Hope for the Flowers” is a tale of a
caterpillar who has trouble becoming what he really is, a
“beautiful butterfly”. As we all know Butterflies are beautiful
creatures in our environment, which develops as nature takes its
course.
Just
like
the
characters
in
the
story,
I
believe
that
we
individuals are destined to have our own battles in becoming who we
are. Many of us come to a time in our life where we start
questioning ourselves about things such “Who am really I?”, “What
am I doing here?”, “What am I created for?” and so on. And when it
happens sometimes we become in an endless cycle of questioning
everything, One after another.
In this fast changing world as many individuals are in the search
of their purpose, they spend their lives dissatisfied, proving
things and most especially proving themselves to others around
them. Many of them become confused and mistaken on recognizing what
does really matter and what does not. And there will come a point
wherein people will find themselves in a path that is unfamiliar
yet they refuse of not taking it. There will be a constant trying
for everything that can do, wherein one may succeed and the others
may not.
There is a scene in the short film wherein a lot of caterpillars
are striving to get on the top of a brunch unaware of what awaits
them and as days goes by there are caterpillars who faced with
self-questions and fears, decided to go down and stop the journey.
These caterpillars can be compared to people –one may have formed a
goal and made a plan. They both can experience hardships and
tribulations along their journey. But this doesn’t mean that when
one cannot survive amidst everything, there will be no one who can.
What I learned in the film is that just like the caterpillars, most
people experience major errors in life– and that I think is their
failure to recognize what matters the most in them and becoming
focused on what they believe is missing from their existence. I
believe that just like the striped and yellow caterpillar, one must
ask oneself about their purpose – “What I am meant to do?”, “How do
I know when I have one?”, “Why do I need to find it?” and “How can
I find it?”. I believe that having a purpose is the difference
between making a living and making a life. For me, in life
“Purpose” is something that can give us beyond fulfillment and
satisfaction. It is not just something that can make one get out of
the bed in the morning and makes time fly. It is something that can
magically touch each and one around us and turn us into a higher
form of beings who’s more capable of contributing “Good”, even in
unpleasant environments and unwanted conditions.
Many people dream of an environment that would not display any form
of threat of peace and kill everyone’s hope and smiles. I think the
only key to the process is within ourselves –when we, individuals,
start being courageous in deciding what legacy we would like to
leave –Asking ourselves on how we were able to make a positive
impact and difference in the lives of others. We should bear in
mind that every day is an opportunity for us to leave a mark on the
world. When we begin to consider our “Purpose”, we are in a way to
the “Happiness” and “Enthusiasm” that will enrich our life and the
lives of others. Our natural focus will drive us to reach our
goals, with the right amount of determination and commitment added
with passion we will become successful on our own terms.
As individuals, May we allow our journey to become a point of
reference by others but never to become a standard. Just like the
yellow caterpillar, even after attaining a more beautiful life by
being a butterfly, she remained humble. This is seen in the film
where even after being left by a striped Caterpillar alone, she
chooses to guide him into the same life that she has. If everyone
will be like a yellow caterpillar, we can add greater value to the
world. And therefore create a world full of flowers.
