THE ECONOMY, THE ENVIRONMENT, OR THE COMMUNITY
WHICH IS MOST IMPORTANT? THE ECONOMY, THE ENVIRONMENT, OR THE
COMMUNITY?
For me, all three are important. Because each one holds an important role in sustaining
developments, which I think is the key for a qualitative life. I believe that these three (the economy,
environment and the community) are special pillars that holds life. With the presence of the three, life
is in its state of abundance and sustainability, for there is a balance. Considering an analogy, what do
you think would happen if one pillar will be shortened or removed? Basically, if I were to illustrate it,
the life that was used to be on the top will fall due to imbalance. There, we can observe the significance
of putting the same importance on the three pillars. The importance of one pillar must be equal to the
importance of the others. Because I believe that the absence of one will make an effect to the other
pillars and will definitely affect life.
Economic pillar. The Economy desired to produce a maximum flow of income in terms of rational use, resource
efficiency, particularly scarce resources. It is observable that rapid economic growth with obtaining maximum benefits,
especially for developing countries, creates a heavy burden on the ability of the planet to support. From the perspective of
sustainable development, economic growth should be such that negative environmental impact is limited. The concept of
sustainable development represents a paradigm shift in the area of sustainability, wherein it is not just about pivotal
environmental protection but with connection with other areas, especially those involving economic activity. Therefore,
development must be conceived as a process multidimensional, involving major changes in social structures, aiming at
accelerating economic growth, reducing inequality and poverty eradication. The economy must ensure a balanced and
sustainable economic environment by producing goods and services continuously to maintain manageable levels of
government and external debt and avoid extreme sectoral imbalances affecting agriculture and production industrial, and
in order to achieve needed training a competitive industry, diversification of industrial production and attracting
investment.
The pillar of Environment. It has the power function of resources, waste receptor and the direct utility by its
complexity, ecological component of sustainable development captures not only the actual economic development in relation
to the environment, but the entire development. Ecological development is closely correlated growth and interrelation with
environmental laws, the ecological balance. Here, there is a capacity to grow and to bring the environment and its
peculiarities, while ensuring the protection and renewal of natural resources and environmental heritage. Environmental
protection is considering physical and biological system stability, developing their capacity to adapt to change and less
conservation status considered ideal. Economic growth should not affect the environment in order to talk about sustainable
development.
The community/human pillar. Assuming that viable alternatives have been identified to maintain ecological
balance, and authorities everywhere are converting raw materials purchasing in material goods to be made in accordance
with the requirements for efficiency and optimality, quality of life and labor standards is the prerequisite fulfillment and
satisfaction. Human sustainability has regard to social interactions, relationships, behavioral patterns and values of
humanity. Human component aimed at socio-cultural stability, achieve fairness both at the same time a generation is
concerned maintaining cultural diversity "world village", as the prevention or cure of "social ills" of contemporaneity:
loneliness or alienation, lack of job satisfaction (continue under a narrowing of specialization on the basis of "knowing
more and more about less and less" that difficult for the worker to perceive the finished product and understand the
usefulness of his work), the relativism of values, the end of history, uncertainties about the nearer future or more distant
"disease" postmodern age specific. Realizing the need for further social development (without harming the environment)
is imperative to protect and improve the state of the environment represents the only possibility to create and maintain the
welfare of both the present generation and those to come, this balance was the factor that can and should ensure
development company whole.
It is implied but not stated on the paragraphs above that one pillar is a necessity to the other pillars,
the environment that is essential for the living of the people, holds and represents soil. The soil is the
thing that bounds humanity to earth. It provides almost anything beneficial to humans. Some of the
examples are food and shelter in which being offered by what I strongly believe as a nurturing mother
to humans. It is needed by the community for this will serve not only their home but will be the source
of materials which will they generate in the community for survival.
The community plays an important role in the environment. Without the help of the community, the
environment will not be sustained. The efforts and service of the community is significant to the
environment, with the presence of the community, the loss in the environment will monitored,
restored and or will be given remedies. Without the bounty natural resources and a healthy place to
live in, the next generations/society that the world would have, would not have what supposed to be
theirs.
And lastly, the economy. It will not rise without the community and environment, for the reason that
it is the people who composes and builds the economy, and it is the environment where the economy
is made. The economy rises because of the efforts of the whole community. The environment is the
service provider that enables human society to exist. Human society creates the conditions, rules and
relationships that support economic activity.
With the statements cited above, I can conclude that the pillars (the economy, environment
and community) are preconditions to a promising Life, a life that has more quality and more sustained.
There is no need to choose because all are important. And with regards of importance, all three are
equal.
