SIGNIFICANCE OF FILM MAKING IN HISTORY - a narrative writing
SIGNIFICANCE OF FILM MAKING IN HISTORY
Knowing the importance of History in Film making is such important part of society. It tells us of
success, failures and mistakes made in the past. As part of the modern generation I believe that
knowing more about the history of it can make a difference especially regarding on how we view the
worth of it (the films and the film making).
In Today’s generation, people often view filming as a very ordinary thing and only a tool for leisure
and entertainment since it grown so much as ubiquitous art. But little did people know, films are
something that is uniquely powerful because it becomes both a soul and a character of a society- It
speaks for itself to be notice and for the people to hear/ watch what it’s trying to say or convey. It
also mirrors the presence of the culture, tradition, situation and the system that is in a certain area,
and of certain group of people.
After attending the ACP, I learned that the films itself and the innovations made to it help leads the
people of the society- films represents stories that sometimes documentaries and some other times
are only products of wild and skillful minds of people in the filming industry. Through time it becomes
a more effective means of disseminating communications to societies, wherein it does not only
presents realities but also defining and giving emphasis on where “somethings” has been , and what
could have been if people dared to become Brave about “Things”. Film making is perceive differently
by a lot of people – some will say it is about how brilliant minds uses art for escapism, sitting on sets
and ends up bringing people into different worlds on different types and levels of experience,
sometimes with their emotions and awareness being built and or caged. How I see filming / making
films is that it is another way of educating oneself. Although it is on the face of the cameras and
screens- I believe that one of its objective (goal of the filming industry) is to not limit the themes that
it’s portraying in the corner of the theaters. I believe they educate through not only unfolding stories
but also sending people an awareness they need for a certain Life. Films gives people chances and
another way to explore on different times even of different generations. This shows that Film making
does not only focus on contributing to the welfare of an economy, but as wholeness it also cares for
the welfare of the society regarding on matters that subjects to ‘Life’.
During the ACP talk on film making – the films were defined as motioned pictures by the speaker.
What I realized from the seminar is that those motion pictures that they are calling today holds a very
important role in the world- because they serve as an instrument for opening eyes not only for the
leaders and those who are privilege of a power but for everyone. As I look at it, as I understand its
connection to the world, I realizes that it is both the shadow and the light that could lead for a better
future. It is not about how greatly the films are made, rather it is on whether it can stand the test of
time, across generations. It is seen in the ways on how effective it can positively impact and influences
the minds of the many- When it was able to cause a mass awareness about the importance of things,
issues and initiatives. It must not only for the purpose of leisure but to intentionally help awaken the
people’s sense of responsibly and empathy towards such situations. The goal of the filming industry
must not only to connect the people to itself to earn, but more importantly to guide people
understand the world.
