In my current role as a financial representative with Northwestern Mutual, I work with my clients to articulate their short and long-term goals and then develop a tailored financial plan that incorporates risk management and asset allocation strategies. Over the past four years in this, and a similar position, I've learned about sales strategy and methodology, various marketing techniques, lead generation, and team management. I was tasked with the responsibility of helping recruit and develop multiple classes of interns as they pursued full-time employment with the firm.
In previous internships, I gained a wealth of experience pertaining to marketing and social media branding and management. During my time with California Resources Corporation, I spearheaded a social media research project which examined the various platforms the company could leverage to build an online presence and generate positive engagement with California residents. I also actively managed Facebook and LinkedIn profiles during my tenure with Kern Council of Governments and I have managed Instagram and Twitter accounts for various non-profit organizations. I'm familiar with several types of graphic design and editing software, including the Adobe Creative Cloud.
During the summer of 2017, I worked with Cigna Healthcare in St. Louis, MO. I was a member of the third annual Diverse Leaders of Tomorrow Academy, where my fellow interns and I simulated a c-suite and worked together to tackle dynamic health disparities in different areas of the nation. We also combined to create a comprehensive pharmacy rebate structure that would theoretically increase competitiveness and profitability among the pharmacies in our network. I was responsible for developing price points and sales projections, as well as marketing strategy, and we presented the plan to over 200 shareholders via Skype.
I graduated in 2018 with my bachelors degree in public relations from California State University, Bakersfield. During my time at the university, I was very involved as a student leader on campus. I assisted in founding the local chapter of my fraternity and was elected its first president, I served as the Director of Marketing for Associated Students, Inc., and I was the Assistant Sports Editor for The Runner, the university's student-run publication.
I've enjoyed my time with all of these wonderful organizations and I look forward to bringing my skill set and enthusiasm to whatever project or endeavor I'm fortunate to take on next.
