Inventory Manager/Assistant Manager
Blick Art Materials - Portland, OR - June 2013 to Present
I began working at Blick Art Materials when they acquired Utrecht Art Supplies in Early June of 2013. I entered
the company with the title of Floor Manager, acting as a jack of all trades who was responsible for helping the
Portland store's General Manager, Sales Manager and Inventory Manager with whatever tasks they needed an
extra set of hands on. Shortly after making the transition from Utrecht to Blick, the General Manager resigned.
At this stage the Inventory Manager was given the General Manager position and I was shifted into the position
of store Inventory Manager.
My duties include, but are not limited to:
• Opening/closing store
• Customer service
• Merchandising per corporate created templates/planograms
• Checking store email and communicating with Blick corporate departments, product vendors, local
universities and customers with general inquiries
• Cycle counting product to ensure on-hand inventory accuracy
• Making inventory adjustments via web based inventory system and electronic PDA scanner
• Filling adjustment forms to adjust/write off product that is incorrectly shipped/received, damaged, defective,
stolen or for any other reason deemed un-sellable
• Creating add-on orders for customers for large quantities of products and products that are not part of the
store's regular product assortment
• Receiving shipments from Blick distribution centers and direct-ship product vendors
• Creating guidelines and delegating tasks for staff to ensure product is labeled/sold under correct SKU
numbers, stocked/back-stocked correctly
• Forecasting weekly sales and creating weekly schedule for all store staff via DayforceHCM web based time
clock/scheduling/budgeting software
• Extensive use of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word & Outlook)
• Visiting local universities with art departments to pass out flyers & promote sales events at the beginning
of each term
• General maintenance (repairs, POS equipment removal/installation/troubleshooting, plumbing)
