AI (Artificial Intelligence) is the buzzword these days. As someone working in IT, I’ve
been experimenting with various AI tools. In this article, I’ll share some real-world
ways I’ve used AI to boost productivity, streamline tasks, and solve problems more
effectively.
1️⃣ Coding Assistance
This is usually the first use case people think of when discussing AI. Many tools are
now available as plugins for popular IDEs, or you can simply ask coding questions to
ChatGPT or Claude.
In my experience, these tools provide excellent assistance — sometimes even
surprisingly so. But they’re not infallible. For example, while creating bash scripts
using Claude for Sonnet 3.7 Agent, I noticed that it sometimes made syntax errors
that led to script failures. I had to manually correct these.
Takeaway: AI coding tools are great accelerators, but you should always test the
generated code thoroughly.
2️⃣ Log Analysis & Issue Investigation
For customer support cases, digging through large application logs is
time-consuming — especially if you’re unfamiliar with the system.
AI tools can help analyze log files and correlate them with described issues. You
provide the logs and describe the symptoms, and the tool can often highlight the
likely problem areas. In some cases, I’ve even asked it to cross-reference logs with
source code to check for potential bugs.
Even when the AI doesn’t pinpoint the issue, it reduces investigation time
significantly.
3️⃣ AI-Powered Meeting Notes
I’ve used AI-based note takers during meetings, and they’ve been a big time-saver.
These tools transcribe conversations using speech-to-text, identify speakers over
time, and summarize key points, action items, and discussion outlines.
However, technical terms and names occasionally get misspelled or misinterpreted.
A quick review and cleanup make the final output quite usable.
4️⃣ Voiceovers for Technical Videos
Recording voiceovers for technical training videos used to be time-consuming. At
first, I tried a tool that cloned my voice. Later, I switched to using high-quality
AI-generated voices — which now sound natural and expressive, not robotic.
You sometimes need to tweak the input text to fix pronunciation, but overall it takes
just minutes to generate a polished voiceover.
5️⃣ Improving Writing Quality
Even native speakers can benefit from writing help — especially for professional
content.
Whether it’s refining a training script, improving narration flow, or polishing a formal
email, I now regularly use AI tools to enhance my writing. This very article, for
example, was reviewed and improved using such a tool.
🧠 Final Thoughts
These were just a few personal examples, but the possibilities with AI tools are far
broader. The key is to explore, experiment, and see how they can help you become
more productive and efficient in your work.

been your experience?
