I was in charge of liasing with clients with power failures and missed closings of their properties, when the alarm centre would notify of a failure to lock. I was also responsible for phoning clients when their alarms went off to determine if reaction personnel should be dispatched, and to inform clients of the alarm that has been activated at their premises, and to relay messages between the reaction staff, and the owners. Working, as a control-room operator was a rewarding challenge that required a lot of management, split-second decision-making, and a level hand under high-stress periods. 2013 – 2013 : Abaqulusi Super Spar – Front-End Staff I was employed at Abaqulusi Super Spar and had been trained as a cashier, where I was responsible for helping customers draw monies from the cash points, help them find required items or products. I also helped with the stock take, and helped with the organization of the shelves when new stock arrived, and placement of stock on the shelves to maximise product availability and visibility. I was trained in the Deli, to work with food, take multiple orders, and task with other Deli staff to meat health requirements, and to serve customers to their satisfaction. I was also required to help senior staff members with filing, and general administrative work. October 2013 – July 2014 : Fish Aways – Cashier I was a cashier at Fish Aways. I was the head cashier on my shift, and was in charge of working at the counter for walk-in customers, as well as handling telephonic customers. I was responsible for the taking of orders, liasing with the kitchen staff, and handling queries from customers regarding our products, any issues or comments they wish to make, and guiding them to the relevant personnel for upper management queries. I was also responsible for daily cash-ups as well as stock take, both on a daily and monthly basis, and report directly to management in all regards. August 2014 – Present : Vryheid Herald – Receptionist/Administration I am currently working at the Vryheid Herald, a local newspaper affiliated under Caxton, as a receptionist. My tasks include helping clients with various queries; from researching older articles in the archives for customers, receiving account payments, taking messages for other staff members, relaying customers to applicable departments or staff, and day-to-day general customer enquiries. I receive and process incoming payments for cash sales as well as providing receipts for all sales. I manage the switchboard, and receive messages for staff members out of the office, and deliver them as necessary, as well as making appointments for staff members with the general public and private sector. I am in charge of the weekly banking, daily cash-ups and managing the front-end cash drawer and float. I am adept and do all filing and other office management duties. I also have the responsibility of handling staff claims, procure rent and municipal bills and make sure they are forwarded to head office and paid timeously, along with the cheque requisitions and authorisations from head office. I am in charge of the leave forms and employee register and its completion. ACTIVITIES Interests : I enjoy reading, painting, sketching. I spend quality time with friends and family, and enjoy meeting people. I am a great fan of a variety of music, from classical to modern pop. Personal/Skills : I am trustworthy, punctual, reliable, dedicated and hard working. I am always working to better myself for the benefit of everyone around me. I see a task through to completion within deadline timeframes. I enjoy a challenge, and use all available resources to complete it. I can efficiently use a computer and Pos systems, including scanners. I am a fast learner, and can work well on my own, or as part of a team. I can speak, read and write fluent English and Afrikaans.
