7 Memorable Movie Motorcycles
7 Memorable Movie Motorcycles
Have you ever watched a James Bond movie or Tom Cruise’s Mission Impossible film series? In today’s
film industry, you’ll hardly find a blockbuster movie that doesn’t feature some classic motorcycles. And
only the best flicks feature motorcycles and make them the coolest machines to add to your toy
collection.
You will find some big motorcycle names on this list, from BMW to Triumph. Counting down to the best
movies with motorcycle scenes in this list, here are the top five that made the cut.
7. John Wick 3 — Parabellum (2019)
We all know what Keanu Reeves delivers in a blockbuster movie, especially one featuring a mental
motorcycle fight scene. Keanu Reeves (aka John Wick) fends off several sword-yielding bad guys while
speeding on a highway. Everyone is on a Yamaha MT-09. And director Chad Stahelski does an
outstanding job inter-splicing the on-road footage with the static screen footage. The CG magic makes
the scene run seamlessly.
6. Mission Impossible
If ever in doubt about which Mission Impossible flick to watch, look for the ones with the motorcycle
scenes. Tom Cruise is no stranger to these beauties. Having rocked the Kawasaki GPz900R in Top Gun,
there wasn’t any doubt that Tom was a bike lover.
Tom switches between the BMW marque and RnineT Pure and S1000RR for Mission Impossible Rogue
Nation in the later Mission Impossible films. The even crazier part is that he claims to do most of the
riding and stunts himself (or at least the non-messy scenes) before CG takes over the bonus.
5. The Great Escape (1963)
Legendary. Iconic. The Great Escape easily ranks as the cream of the crop of amazing films. The Triumph
T6 model features here, and it makes its mark. Arguably one of the best motorcycle movies ever, the
iconic jump scenes by McQueen and other scare scenes are worth 100 watches, no doubt.
4. Easy Rider (1969)
Don’t overlook the obvious here. But no list of motorbike films is complete without the name Easy Rider
on it. Easy Rider is a king of movie motorcycles with that Captain America Chop. It’s a tale of two bikers
who went on the ultimate adventure from Los Angeles to New Orleans on their Harleys. Their cinematic
history is also remarkably interesting.
3. Terminator 2 — Judgement Day (1991)
Arnold Schwarzenegger’s motorcycle scene — riding and shotgun-blasting the T-800 character
contributed. The motorcycle is legendary. James Cameron picked the perfect heavy-duty wheel machine
that befitted Schwarzenegger’s imposing frame.
2. Skyfall (2012)
You just can’t talk motorcycle movies without a James Bond movie somewhere in there. Skyfall has an
incredible opening action sequence as 007 races on the rooftops of Istanbul on a rusted and worn-out
Honda CRF250R.
Bond then ends the scene by flipping the motorbike and lands on a moving train. There’s no better way
to start an action-packed movie, and what better bike to do it with?
1. The Matrix Reloaded (2003)
Finally, we sum it up with a classic motorcycle chase scene that always rolls heads. The Wachowski’s
Matrix trilogy has Trinity doing some insane lane splitting on the famed 2001 Ducati 996. The entire
scene allegedly cost $2.5 million, with nine Ducatis used in the filming. There’s no better way to get a
brand out.
While these movies may dupe you into thinking you can get away with crazy stunts and cinematics, it
never turns out how you expect.
