About

My name is Naomi Mbugua, a passionate and dedicated Frontend Developer with a strong foundation in software engineering. I recently graduated from Murang’a University of Technology in Kenya with a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in Software Engineering. My journey in technology has been driven by curiosity, creativity, and a desire to solve problems through innovative solutions.

During my academic career, I participated in various projects that showcase my skills and commitment to web development. One of my notable projects is the development of a second-hand flagship web application using React, which can be viewed https://flagship-secondhand.vercel.app/. I have also built an interface for a large language model using Next.js, available https://language-model.vercel.app/, and my personal portfolio using React.js, accessible at https://naomimbugua.vercel.app/. Additionally, I created a chicken-selling website using HTML and CSS, and a JavaScript-based snake game, demonstrating my versatility and proficiency in different web technologies.

My professional experience includes working as a Software Engineer Attachee at Saliq Software Solutions, where I focused on UI/UX design and frontend development. This role allowed me to hone my skills in creating intuitive and user-friendly interfaces, which is a crucial aspect of web development.

Participation in hackathons has been an integral part of my growth as a developer. I was a frontend developer for a project in an inter-university hackathon at JKUAT, where our project won in its category, leading to the creation of the MUT Tech Club at Murang’a University of Technology. This experience not only boosted my technical skills but also emphasized the importance of teamwork and innovation. Moreover, our project 'Elingo', a neural machine translator, won a category-wise award at the KAPS inter-university hackathon, showcasing my ability to contribute to successful and impactful projects.

In addition to my academic and professional endeavors, I am an active volunteer. As a Microsoft Student Ambassador, I help fellow students build tech communities and develop their technical and career skills. I also mentor juniors at my university in web development, guiding them to kickstart their journeys in the tech world.

My skills include proficiency in JavaScript, React, Next.js, NoSQL, and Git, coupled with fluency in English and Kiswahili. I am constantly seeking to learn and grow, staying updated with the latest trends and technologies in web development. My ultimate goal is to leverage my skills and experiences to create meaningful and impactful web applications that improve user experiences and solve real-world problems.
