Growing up in Ethiopia, one of the poorest countries in the world, life was challenging. Financially, we had little—if we could eat and sleep, that was enough. But I always believed there had to be more, a way to break free from limitations and create something meaningful.
My journey into programming began about two and a half years ago when I joined university. I was introduced to the world of software development, and the opportunities it presented were beyond anything I had imagined. I immersed myself in coding, spending countless hours mastering full-stack development. I became proficient in React (Next.js), React Native, Node.js (Nest.js/Express), and GraphQL (Apollo), while also gaining expertise in TypeScript, RESTful APIs, WebSockets, PostgreSQL, Redis, and cloud deployment on Google Cloud. Along the way, I deepened my understanding of authentication (JWT, OAuth), security best practices, performance optimization, and scalable system design. I also explored CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes, and microservices architecture, ensuring I could build secure, high-performance, and maintainable applications.
To sharpen my skills, I started developing projects for my local community completely free of charge. I built websites, apps, and backend systems that helped small businesses, students, and organizations. Seeing the impact of my work was incredibly rewarding. Some of the people I helped were so grateful that they offered me tips, and over time, these small earnings made me financially independent from my family.
Now, I see this job opportunity as my next big step a chance to level up and apply everything I’ve learned to real-world projects. I am passionate about building scalable, high-performance applications and continuously improving my skills. With a strong foundation in both frontend and backend development, as well as experience in cloud deployment and optimization, I am ready to contribute at a professional level.
I believe that technology is a tool for transformation—not just for individuals like me, but for entire communities. My goal is to become the best developer I can be, pushing the limits of my abilities and building software that truly makes a difference.
