Historical Context
The inaugural Mr. & Miss Climate Kenya(MMCK) National event was launched at
KICC on the 28th of April 2023 after doing a pilot project on December 10th 2022 in
Meru County at Alba Hotel. The one-day event, themed ‘Innovation in the Wake of
Climate Change,’ supported the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate
Change (UNFCCC), which established an international environmental treaty to
combat dangerous human interference with the climate system.

Mr and Miss Climate Kenya 2022 Pilot Project – Meru County
From the outset, the Meru County pilot project aimed to harness the energy,
creativity, and passion of young people. Recognizing that the youth are the
torchbearers of tomorrow, Mr. and Miss Climate Kenya sought to integrate them
into the climate conversation in meaningful ways. Through collaboration with
educational institutions, the project reached out to schools, colleges, and
universities, engaging students in interactive workshops, seminars, and climate
action campaigns.
As Mr. and Miss Climate Kenya continues to grow, the impact of the Meru County
pilot project serves as a testament to what is possible when young people are
empowered to lead.

Success and Impact Stories.
Over the past 3years, Mr. and Miss Climate Kenya has made significant strides in
engaging young people across the nation in climate action. Through our dedicated
efforts, we have reached a total of 40,000 young individuals. This achievement has
been made possible through a combination of online digital campaign and offline
activities, which have engaged 18,000 young people, and our on-the-ground
initiatives, which have reached 22,000 through school activations, community
dialogues, concerts, youth forums, and various activities.
Engaging 28 Counties
Our initiatives have successfully covered 28 counties, bringing climate awareness
and action to diverse regions across Kenya. We are excited to expand our reach
further, with a goal of covering all 47 counties. By extending our climate action
activities to every corner of the country, we aim to build a unified, youth-led
movement for sustainability.
