Position Overview: The Library and Digital Services Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the library, managing the organization and accessibility of physical and digital resources, and maintaining the institution’s websites and digital platforms. This role combines traditional library management with modern digital services, ensuring efficient delivery of information and resources to users.
Key Responsibilities:
- Library Management:
- Collection Organization: Organize, classify, and manage library collections, including books, periodicals, and multimedia resources, ensuring they are easily accessible to users.
- Cataloging and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate records of library holdings, checkouts, returns, and new acquisitions.
- User Support: Assist library patrons with locating materials, answering inquiries, and providing recommendations based on their needs.
- Event Planning: Plan and execute library events such as workshops, reading programs, and author talks to engage the community.
- Maintenance: Oversee the upkeep of library facilities and technology, including computers and other equipment.
- Website Administration:
- Website Management: Design, update, and maintain the library’s or organization’s website, ensuring that content is current and relevant.
- Content Creation: Develop and post content including news updates, event announcements, and educational resources.
- User Experience: Ensure the website is user-friendly and accessible, implementing improvements based on user feedback and web analytics.
- SEO and Analytics: Utilize SEO best practices to improve the website’s visibility and use analytics tools to track website performance.
- Digital Services:
- Microsoft Office Suite: Utilize Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) for creating documents, reports, presentations, and managing databases.
- Database Management: Administer and update digital databases, including library catalogs and user records.
- Technical Support: Provide technical support for digital services and assist users with issues related to digital resources.
- Training and Support: Train staff and users on the use of digital tools and services, ensuring effective use of technology in daily operations.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Library and Information Management: Knowledge of library systems, cataloging, and resource management.
