Michael John Leisegang

I have been a project manager since 1995. I have excellent working knowledge of all phases of the project life cycle and have more than five years’ experience as a programme manager.

I have become a specialist in Project Management Offices (PMO), and was the Business Intelligence (BI) Programme Manager at the South African Reserve Bank.

I have obtained my PMP certification from the PMI in 2001 and have remained a current PMP ever since. I obtained the PRINCE2 Practitioner certification in 2013.

I have successfully managed projects across many different market sectors, including agriculture, manufacturing, shipping, transport, containerisation and logistics, and information technology (ICT). I have recently obtained the Professional Scrum Master (PSM I) certification.

I have proven experience in infrastructure, banking and finance, government, parastatals, agriculture, manufacturing, transport, shipping, containerisation, and utilities. I have successfully managed software development projects using my excellent understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC), and have a strong development background, having spent fifteen years as a software developer.

In addition, I have a strong technical understanding, gained from my many years as an infrastructure project and programme manager.

One of my major successes was a R454m project for SITA, which was nominated for PMI’s Project of the Year Awards in 2009 and was short-listed.

As an active Project Management Trainer and Facilitator, covering the PMI’s PMP and CAPM certification courses, I also offer Project Management Fundamentals courses. All courses are based on the PMBOK standards.

I have strong leadership skills and I am an excellent communicator. I have often been called upon to make presentations at board level, and my strong verbal and written communication skills have enabled me to carry these tasks out with ease. In addition, I have excellent organisational and managerial abilities to handle resources assigned to my projects, and these, coupled with my excellent interpersonal and leadership skills enable me to mobilise my project teams.

I am a member of the Project Management Institute.
