Benefits of Traveling
Would you like to go on an escapade? One thing that excites me most is the concept of traveling, even something as simple as a 2 hour drive to the park. Despite being thrilled with something quite shallow, there are some that avoid travelling, unaware of the benefits traveling brings. So just for you, and for those of you who are travel fanatics as well, we are going to tell you how you can benefit from traveling. All things listed here are great and applicable for individuals that are either single or blessed with families of their own.
1. MORE TIME FOR YOURSELF – As social animals, we deal with people around us and we tend to lose time to focus on ourselves. In a span of 24 hours, the maximum time we spend to ourselves is probably an hour or two. Traveling should get your gears together in finding more time for you and yours to relax, unwind and bond.
2. SEE THE WORLD – One doesn’t need to literally travel around the world to see the world. Traveling lets you open your eyes and see the wonders that you have had right under your noses all along. A great tip here is to start small by traveling locally, before expanding your sights to farther territories. You’ll be surprised just how much you’ll begin to appreciate the world around you.
3. MOVE, MOVE, MOVE – Traveling promotes exercise. Yes, one fancy, exciting way to get those calories burning is by traveling. If traveling in another city or country, don’t stay in the hotel and be a couch potato. Explore the area and discover amazing sights. Compare what a place has to offer that is not in your local area or community.
4. WAKE UP, BUD – We’re referring to your taste buds. One thing that excites me most when traveling is the fact that I’ll get to taste what a place has to offer, and see if they may have some of their home-grown organic produce and just savor whatever local treats this place and that might have for me.
5. FREE YOUR MIND – Everyday, we are bombarded with tasks from work, school, our children’s schools, etc and the lamest excuse we have to break away from them all is social media! Put your knickers on and head for a place without Wi-Fi! That’s right! Social media is actually killing your “social” life by making you stick more to the media. Get out there and talk to real people.
6. SAY WHAT?! – Traveling can help you learn new languages – be it just some few words or phrases, you still get to learn something new. Who wouldn’t be impressed if you utter new words in a language your friends won’t understand?
7. CULTURE CLUB – Different nations, different races, different cultures. Traveling diversifies your view on humanity, getting to know other people, how we are all the same and different at the same time. You may even discover some cultures so closely tied to yours only to find out that a people’s culture is part of you.
8. ANTI-DEPRESSANT – Vitamin D gets you out of the gloom, so if you’re in a place where the sun rarely shines, head out to where the place smiles almost the entire day and enjoy being sun-kissed. Head to the beach while you’re at it to maximize the fun.
9. MEMORIES ENGRAVED – With or without your camera, traveling can give you something to talk about during dinner for years to come. What it was like when the sun was setting in Manila or how silly your sister looked when she screaming at the top of her lungs while sledding in the Swiss Alps and how much your little brother ran around naked in Yosemite. Memories are the real treasure here, and souvenirs only come second.
10. CHALLENGE ACCEPTED – Traveling gives you new set of challenges very much different from what you face every day from your usual 7-9. Whatever challenges await you and how you’ll overcome them during your travels is make its mark in your brains which you can always use as reference when facing the same challenge coming back home.
Listing all these 10 benefits makes me want to pack my bags and head out to travel again. So while you’re reading this, I’ll most likely join you in looking for places to go for my next trip. See you, maybe? Tell us what you think.
