All of my changes are tracked in Word. When I am reviewing manuscripts, I use resources like Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary and other various format-reference guides. The work will be thoroughly reviewed and read aloud numerous times in order for me to catch any possible errors. I am familiar with CMOS, APA, and Christian Writer’s Manual of Style.

For beta reading, I look for:

Pacing- Was there parts in the story that started to lag?

Setting and World Building- Was the setting interesting and detailed enough for me to “feel like I was there?”

Characterization- Was the main character likable and believable? What character was my favorite? Did some characters need more development?

Consistency- Were there any discrepancies in time sequences, places, or characters?

For Nonfiction- Did the author explain their point of view in a concise and clear way? Were there points and details repeated too often? Did I feel enough research was presented to back up the author’s points?
