Melissa Boyd

For over ten years, I held the position of Social Media Community Manager and Digital Content Manager at Tennis Canada. During my time there, I managed fifteen social media platforms which reach over 2 million fans. I spearheaded Tennis Canada's social media initiatives in 2006 and was the primary person responsible for its upkeep. Among my most notable accomplishments are building Eugenie Bouchard's facebook page which now has more than one million fans as well as devise and execute the digital strategy for the Rogers Cup tennis tournament in Montreal. In 2017, not only did the event set a new world attendance record, but we also achieved record digital numbers, including 1.3 million web visitors in ten days, 1.9 million video views across all platforms, and a 33% increase in social media engagement compared to 2016.

I was also a content manager for the Tennis Canada and Rogers Cup websites. Because of this, I have a strong knowledge of web programming, especially WordPress. My position also meant that I had to manage digital projects (web and social) and liaise regularly with our digital agency as well as our various departments to ensure that projects were delivered accordingly.

My strongest skill, however, is writing. For over ten years, I contributed countless news articles and feature stories for Tennis Canada’s publications and websites. Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to do one-on-one interviews with tennis superstars including Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Maria Sharapova and Serena Williams.

I am fluently bilingual, both oral and written, as I have lived in Quebec all my life, and I am comfortable working in English and French.

I believe the sports culture as well as my experience doing social media and digital content for a major international sporting event has taught me to be autonomous and to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and maximize my potential. I am extremely devoted to my job; it dictates when I work and from where. It is all consuming and I would not have it any other way because I am passionate about what I do.
