With a degree in Communicative English and a Post Graduation in Journalism, I started out as a content writer and manager for one of India's leading media companies (Bennet Coleman) in Bangalore. My role was to generate, edit and manage content for an online City Guide in areas such as entertainment, lifestyle, shopping and culture. I was also doing restaurant reviews and wrote a column on people profiles. Another stint handling content across portals later, I found myself testing the waters in print media. I worked as a print journalist/features writer/reporter/editor across desks and beats for several years (The Times of India), finding the time and space for marriage and a baby in between. When my son was just three months old my husband landed a job in another city (New Delhi) and I chose to quit and move with him. For a while it was all about being a homemaker and a full time mom. When my son turned two and was off to playschool, I began freelance work in content/ feature writing for various companies including Prevention India, India Syndicate etc. A few years later, I started writing my own blog although I haven't been posting regularly. We've recently moved to Chennai and my son's a ninth grader now. I am especially interested in working remote freelance writing jobs now since having a good home-work life balance is very important to me. I want to keep writing and stay in touch with my passion and career and still be around for and give time to my family.
