In May 2009 Universal Africa Lines, a niche break bulk carrier servicing the Oil and Gas industry from the United States and Europe into West Africa decided to add a new trade route to their service. UAL SA was founded in order to manage the new route from South African ports into West Africa. I was one of three individuals employed to set up office and develop the new trade route for UAL. I was trained by Haakon Rostad (Managing Director) an expat from Norway who had been with the UAL group for over 30 years. Between the three of us, we split the responsibilities and duties.

Office set up – Ordering furniture and all other office supplies needed including basic cleaning materials, stationery, staff refreshments etc. Assisting with sourcing service providers such as Vodacom, Mweb, Telkom, Silicon Overdrive (IT) etc and setting up contracts/relationships with them.
