TCS - ASSEMBLER TO COBOL CONVERSION – MAY 2011 – MARCH 2012
The objective of this project is to reduce the number of Assembler code by converting in to
COBOL since there are limited resources available with the client and in the industry for Assembler
knowledge. The clients had proceeded with the first level of conversion using the third party tool
namely the Solutions Migration Limited (SML) tool which converted the Assembler code of particular
system into COBOL. Since, the SML generated COBOL code is not compliance to client coding standard
and was not readable as it followed the assembly coding techniques. The following are the System
objective of the project we owned.
ü The selected system code is converted and implemented with the scheduled project time line.
ü The converted code is as per client coding standard and it is maintainable.

The initial learning program (ILP) was aimed to make us comfortable with the SDLC models and
familiarize us with how things work used inside the software industry. ILP also provided us an insight/training on various technologies like Java and Mainframe. It also comprises sessions on effective
relationship management, communication and development of inter-personal skills which guide people
to work as team and achieve the desired results. My efforts during this period as HR spokesperson of
the mainframe were appreciated by the ILP delivery for owning the responsibility of coordinating with
