Martin Banov

I'm a 34 yr old Bulgarian national (but tending to often live elsewhere around in Asia, Israel,...), formally trained in Biology and Chemistry, but having worked as a Linux/Unix systems administrator and as information security specialist for ~5 years. I've since then changed a number of jobs, often to do with writing (both electronic and printed media, in both English and Bulgarian), editing and occasionally translations.

I got caught up in the distributed crypto-systems trend over the past ~2 years — not so much blockchain per se, but the general concept of polygraph-like peer-to-peer networks of shared record-keeping and common coordination protocols. My interest being more in it as institutional technology and in its potential to re-fashion and re-decentralize the Internet back more into the spirit of the Web 1.0 (as defined by its simplicity and protocols like IRC, USEnet, etc.)

In that regard, I've taken up to teach myself Rust lately, as well as working with Web Ontologies and the Semantic Web (RDF, OWL, etc.)
