Marney J. Simmons

My experiences are many and varied: World Traveler and Adventurer; I returned to university as a mature student when my children left home, just to see if I could do it. Eventually received an Honours degree in English Literature and was invited into Graduate School to pursue a Master of Urban & Regional Planning degree. Got that one too! I have worked as a Municipal Land Use Planner; have been the sole Coordinator of a rural Health Care Foundation where I managed a large cottage lottery project - a great success!; I have been the Mayor of my small town in Nova Scotia (Mulgrave); I was a Communications & Adult Learning Instructor at the Nova Scotia Community College; I have been an outgoing, friendly, cheerful and helpful cashier at a local retail store; I have been an outreach coordinator for a candidate in a provincial political campaign, and since 2007 I have managed my own freelance editing and writing business from home, a situation I much prefer.
I am pleasant to work with because I always maintain a positive, happy trusting demeanor. I thrive on helping people and sharing knowledge; however, I do expect to be treated fairly in return. I also expect to be recognized for my work. My work is high calibre; I am honest and dependable; respectful of other people's time; willing to ask questions if I'm stuck on something; I go the extra mile without being asked, and I love what I do.
