Essential things you need to know in finding a
winning product - a gem that brings high value to
your Amazon business.
TARGET CUSTOMER
It's necessary to determine your target audience
before knowing what products to offer. Your
products should either fulfill the desire of your
target audience, relieve pain, or provide solutions
to their existing problems.
PRODUCT IDEAS STRATEGIES
Strategize either by using an automated or manual process.
You can gather product ideas by creating a customer
journey map of your target market, checking retail brands,
suppliers, or Amazon competitors on what they currently
offer, or using automated tools such as Helium10's
Blackbox Products or Niche.
EVALUATE THE COMPETITION
What can be improved to provide solutions? Go through
competitors' ratings, reviews, and negative feedback to check.
Assess the competition as well. Check if you can compete with
competitors' lowest prices and whether it's brand-dominated
or your competitors manufacture their products. Lastly, check
if it's within the budget.
ANALYZE MARKET DEMAND
Is it a trend or a fad? A stable or a growing market? Analyze the
market demand by checking existing data. Keyword's search
volume should at least be 2,000. Minimum monthly sales
should be 300 units while monthly revenue is $7,000. How's
the competition? Check the reviews of relevant products.
You're good to go if it averages from 500 reviews and below.
Lastly, compute the profit margin. Is it 30% and up? Canvass at
least 3 suppliers to get the raw product cost.
ADDITIONAL CRITERIA
It's best to start with a lightweight, single-item
product with no bundles, sets, and variations and a
product that's nonelectronic and nonbreakable.
Make sure it has no legal issue by checking USPTO
for patents and trademarks. The product should not
be under Amazon's hazmat and gated categories. It
should also be eligible for Amazon's advertising.
