Making America Great Again: Donald Trump’s Emergence into
Presidency
Amidst his blatant statements that disrespect women, his
shocking comments on minorities, and overall arrogance, Donald
Trump emerged victorious in the US Presidential Elections which
left almost everyone stunned. He won despite his crude, boastful
force as a campaign strategy and a lack of a detailed plan for
change stating “I’m with you, I’ll fight for you, and I will win
for you.” (The Editorial Board. “Donald Trump’s Campaign of
Fear.” Opinion Page. New York Times.com, 22 July 2016, par.6,
www.nytimes.com/2016/07/22/opinion/donald-trumps-campaign-offear.html. Accessed 22 January 2017.) Do we really need to nail
him to the cross right away after all of these seemingly
unforgivable guffaws?
Born on the 14th of June 1946 in Queens, New York to parents
Frederick C. and Mary MacLeod Trump, this energetic and
assertive child managed to carry on his remarkable attributes to
adulthood. Since following his father’s footsteps, he has carved
a niche in the business of real estate which basically made him

a mogul, a billionaire, no doubt which led to his rise as a
reality TV star by hosting NBC’s “The Apprentice” in 2004.
With his magnanimous state of being rich and famous, Donald
J. Trump still had his eye on one aspect – politics. From 1999
to 2012, Mr. Trump made his efforts in running for presidency.
In 1999 he stated, “We’re tired of being bulls---ed by these
moron politicians.” (Tom Squitieri. “A Look Back At Trump’s
First Run.” Opinion Page, The Hill.com, 7 October 2015, par.8,

The man exerted gallant efforts to achieve his ambition.
Unfortunately, he did not yet make the cut.
Donald J. Trump has been labeled many names all-throughout
his campaign. His win jolted millions and was considered a
groundswell since it’s overwhelming yet we cannot deny that his
victory was a resounding rejection of traditional politics by
blue-collar and working class citizens. With his numerous
scathing, derogatory comments against women, referencing the
audio leak from 2005 where he talked about seducing a married
woman and how easy it is to “grab women by the genitals”
(Lindsay Ellefson. “In 1999, Trump Said He Couldn’t Be President
Because Of the Women He’d Sleep With,” Opinion page,

instantly garnered disgust; apart from his overwhelming threats
against Muslims, immigrants, refugees, do we really see this as
a rhetoric unfit for a country that respects everyone’s rights
regardless of age, race, religion, and sexual orientation? What
gives?
Let us look at his behavior after all of what has been said
and done. Trump’s strategy took a different turn when he won the
presidency particularly pledging that he will be president to
all Americans. Another noticeable part of his statement then was
this, “For those who have chosen not to support me in the past,
of which there were a few people, I’m reaching out to you for
your guidance and your help so we can work together and unify
our great country.” (Biography.com Editors. “Donald Trump
Biography”. The Biography.com website, A&E Television Networks,
par.58, www.biography.com/people/donald-trump-. Accessed

opponent Hillary Clinton adding that the American people owe her
a debt of gratitude for her service to the country which he
sincerely meant. In my opinion, owning up to his unacceptable
remarks and apologizing to those he offended were remarkable.

In conclusion, now that we have a new president, here is my
stand, to unite instead of divide. At the same time, for all to
be vigilant. Speak up when we see a gap in his leadership. As an
immigrant of this nation, I want to give our president a chance
to make America great again highlighting, “What truly matters is
not which party controls our government, but whether our
government is controlled by our people.” (Biography.com Editors.
