Personal statement
I am a qualified and experienced translator, proof-reader, text editor and transcriber and have been
doing freelance projects since 2013. My professional language pair is Afrikaans - English. I have
translated content in the following fields: legal; medical; technical; marketing; social media; creative;
engineering; agricultural; training material; language learning; literature and financial. I offer
competitive rates and deliver a thorough and professional service on time.
I have also been teaching English online since June 2019. My teaching style is tailored to the
particular needs and interests of the student I am teaching, to ensure an optimal and enjoyable
learning experience. I aim to continually increase student talk time and nurture the self-confidence
of my students. My feedback to my students are thorough and constructive and I follow up on
corrections and suggestions made during our lessons. My teaching is supported by a Postgraduate
Diploma in Linguistics, a 120 Hour TEFL Certificate and an IELTS Academic Certification.
