In my role as a Project Manager at Polymer Science Park, I have not only managed but also significantly expanded our portfolio of sustainable plastics technology projects. My focus on developing and implementing projects that align with the principles of the circular economy has led to numerous successful collaborations in diverse sectors, including construction, automotive, packaging, textile, and electronics. This multi-sector experience has allowed me to understand and address the unique challenges and opportunities in each area, thereby broadening my expertise and impact.
A critical aspect of my work involves fostering strong relationships with companies, stakeholders, and partners. These relationships are vital in leading and executing both national and international projects effectively. I take pride in my ability to manage project timelines, budgets, and costs meticulously, ensuring that each project not only meets but often exceeds our clients' expectations. Supervising interns is another key responsibility of mine, where I focus on nurturing their professional growth and ensuring they contribute meaningfully to our projects.
One of my notable contributions was advising a packaging company on the optimization of their PP bucket lids. This project was particularly challenging due to the intricate balance required between product durability and the use of sustainable materials. Similarly, assisting a paint company in transitioning from fossil-based HDPE to recycled materials was a testament to my commitment to advancing sustainable practices in the industry. These efforts not only demonstrate my technical expertise but also my dedication to promoting environmental sustainability.
Before my current role, my tenure at Royal HaskoningDHV as a Process Engineer and Consultant provided me with invaluable experience. Optimizing Crystalactor® technology for sulfate removal was a complex task that honed my problem-solving skills and technical knowledge. The research on Legionella in water treatment plants underscored the importance of public health in environmental engineering, a perspective that I carry in my current projects.
My educational journey, with an Erasmus Mundus Joint MSc in Environmental Technology and Engineering, was a transformative experience. It equipped me with a comprehensive understanding of key areas like waste management, energy transition, and environmental legislation, crucial for my current role. The design of energy-efficient water treatment plants and the development of a plasma gasifier project are testaments to my ability to apply academic knowledge to practical, real-world problems.
At the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission, I delved into the world of renewable polymer adsorbents, addressing the critical issue of heavy metal and dye removal from industrial effluents. This research was a significant part of my BSc in Chemistry, where I developed a solid grounding in various chemistry disciplines, particularly environmental and polymer chemistry.
Proficiency in a range of technical software and tools is a cornerstone of my professional skill set. My expertise in Visma, the MS Office suite, Minitab, BioWin, MATLAB, and other programs enables me to tackle complex projects efficiently. Being multilingual in Bengali, English, and Dutch has been immensely beneficial in international collaborations and communications.
Outside of my professional life, I am passionate about cycling and traveling. These hobbies not only provide me with a sense of balance and well-being but also offer me new perspectives and ideas that I often find applicable in my work. They are a reflection of my dynamic, adaptive, and globally-minded approach to both my personal and professional life. My career journey has been marked by continuous learning, adaptability, and a steadfast commitment to sustainability and innovation. I look forward to further advancing in the field of environmental technology, contributing to more sustainable practices and solutions in the industry.
