Refugee Buddy Network
Founder
Personal project wherein I researched humanitarian volunteers in the refugee crisis to
identify unmet needs. The result is a Facebook group, which links volunteers with refugees
around the world via their phones to provide practical and emotional support through an
online network.
I designed User journeys and identified User Needs of 4 user groups to create a model that
relies entirely on volunteers. Outputs include style guide, tone of voice, content strategy,
video tutorials, research, protocols and assets to manage a small team of volunteer Admins.
I create marketing assets (such as this short video to recruit more volunteers) and editorial
for members.
We have had some spectacular successes, including the repatriation of a 22 year old Syrian
in Greece with a gunshot head wound via a Swiss Humanitarian visa. The group currently
has 5,500 members and is growing daily. I’ve recently been interviewed by two journalists
in relation to Refugee Buddy Network. Here is one article, published in Germany. We’ve
also appeared in Huffington Post.
