Luis Mentel Introduction I am a British/German 27-year-old working professional from London, UK, currently living in Auckland. I have always been keen to travel, live and work in completely new places to push myself out of my comfort zone and I am looking to take my next career step here in NZ. Education University of Sussex Bachelor of Arts in International Development with Spanish Sept. 2019 – May 2023 Brighton and Hove, UK Experience Outlier AI AI LLM Tester July 2024 – Present Remote, Global My role as an AI tester for Outlier requires me to create prompts for AI models and review and rewrite model responses in German. Outlier is a platform that enables individuals to work as freelancers and sends projects their way based on clients’ specifications. New Zealand Food Network (NZFN) Warehouse Volunteer March 2025 – Present Penrose, Auckland I volunteer at the NZFN distribution warehouse in Penrose twice a week, doing three-hour shifts that involve packing boxes with assorted foods otherwise destined for landfill. These boxes are then shipped to food banks, charities and other organisations. SPCA New Zealand Op Shop Volunteer March 2025 – Present Glen Innes, Auckland I normally do two four-hour volunteering shifts per week at my local op shop, where I help keep the store tidy, process transactions, and handle donations for the SPCA animal shelter in Māngere. Mountain Warehouse Retail Supervisor / Team Leader March 2024 – Sept. 2024 Whistler, BC, Canada I began as a Sales Associate and was internally promoted to Team Leader/Supervisor after three months. My role as Team Leader involved managing Sales Associates on the same shift as me and being responsible for opening and closing the store, including handling the cash float of the tills and processing end-of-day reports. Parkinson’s UK Aug. 2018 – Jan. 2019 Database Assistant City of Westminster, UK My role at Parkinson’s required me to ensure the charity’s compliance with EU GDPR laws by contacting members and then confirming and updating their details in a spreadsheet. GVI (Global Vision International) Community Development Internship Oct. 2018 – Dec. 2018 Quepos, Costa Rica I was part of a volunteer program in Costa Rica, which involved teaching English to children and adults in the local municipalities of Cocal and Quepos. We also provided childcare during the day for families in Cocal. As part of my internship, I produced teaching resources that could be used in future programmes to help teach English.
