Luis Luna Aguilar Software engineer, entrepreneur and simplicity lover- Summary Hi! I'm software engineer and entrepreneur who believes in simple solutions. They work better, feel better, and are far more elegant. The web amazes me everyday; it makes us better, it makes us aware, and it makes life easier. It creates opportunities for all it's visitors by sharing it's knowledge to improve and enhance itself and those who pay attention to it. I'm committed to helping it do that. I've been working in Ruby on Rails web stack for the past years (more details below), and also I work everyday with front-end technologies (HTML, JS, CSS, HAML, SLIM, SASS, Coffeescript, among others). If you think I can help you achieve your goals, or if you can help me achieve mine, get in touch at- Experience Cofounder and CTO at Carey Medical March 2015 - Present (1 year 11 months) Carey Medical started in 2013 as a GLS Labs project for Clínica Integral Cordero, where we designed and developed a web platform to provide scheduling and electronic health records to their clinic. Over the years we added inventory, invoicing and reporting tools to help them with their day to day, and at the same time we solidified our platform. In late 2014, given the quality and solid foundation of our product, tested more than 2 years in real scenario usage, we decided to launch Carey Medical as our first SaaS product for the health centers and clinics of Costa Rica. As the CTO of Carey, which I've been very emotionally close because I've used the project across the years to implement everything I've learned, to make it better and to test those technologies on production scenarios, I'm in charge of the development of the product, the infrastructure and services needed to run a SaaS platform, and of making sure it keeps the quality we have managed to obtain as it grows. Co-founder and Consultant at GLS Labs September 2012 - Present (4 years 5 months) Page1 GLS is the entrepreneurship adventure my partner and me always wanted. We believe that we need to create jobs to give back to society and impulse others, we want to share with them our developing philosophies and make them feel as excited as we are building things. We want to help our clients improve their business creating new products for them, or improving existent ones. This let me work with different technologies and learn about the field in which the products will be used. Also, a company of your own makes you learn to be an administrator, an accountant, a client manager. It teaches you to take decisions about what technology to use for a project, about how to gather technical requirements looking to minimize misunderstandings, and makes you lead developers & designers teams. It drives you to learn more, so you can share more and give back to the persons working with you. GLS is a learning experience that teaches you new things with every project. Ruby on Rails Developer at New Futuro March 2012 - July 2013 (1 year 5 months) I started working for New Futuro as contractor via Pernix Solutions, and officially joined the team in March 2012. I worked in the newfuturo.com website as a Ruby on Rails developer, developing new features and improvements to existent ones, providing solutions to the problems we faced at the same time. I also had the role of Data Engineer, providing reports and elaborating researches to guide business and development decisions. I got experience in Google Analytics, Segment.io, Mixpanel, Session Cam, ClickTale and other data tools for researching users behavior and site statistics. The New Futuro adventure took me to a lot of live events, with thousands of attendants and held in different locations of the US (LA, HOU, MIA, CHI), where I was able to interact with our users and research how they used our site, and how we could improve for them. This interaction drastically improved my people and communication skills, after the hundreds of talks with our users and their families. Ruby on Rails Developer at Pernix-Solutions July 2011 - March 2012 (9 months) When I arrived worked for 2 months in a Drupal project, where I learned some PHP and had my first experiences with CMS applications. After that, in September 2011, I started working in the New Futuro project as a Ruby on Rails developer, which introduced me to technologies like HTML-CSS-Javascript preprocessors, Git as a source control system, and applications deployed on unix based systems. Also I was new to Ruby on Rails, and I gained solid expertise in all of these technologies. Page2 I worked under agile teams and I started using tools for managing the process, like Pivotal Tracker, Camp Fire or Base Camp. This job took me to my first international working experiences, first I spent two weeks in Chicago working with Obtiva (acquired by Groupon), to learn from their developers in a knowledge exchange program. After that I went to the US to do consultancies for our clients at New Futuro, which introduced me to the american working culture, which I got in love with, admiring their passion and focus on career development. This was a life change experience that has guide my professional values since then.
