Lloyd Salmon

I am a seasoned Project and Engineering Management professional with over three decades of experience in Jamaica’s sugar industry and infrastructure development sectors. My career has been deeply rooted in technical leadership, project execution, and strategic planning, anchored by a robust academic foundation in Natural Sciences from the University of the West Indies and specialized training in Maintenance Engineering Management from the AF-Swedish Management Group in Stockholm, Sweden.

Over the years, I have held several pivotal roles, most notably as Engineering Manager and Projects Coordinator at SCJ Holdings Ltd., one of Jamaica's largest and most historically significant sugar companies. In these capacities, I led multidisciplinary engineering and agricultural projects, including the construction and rehabilitation of water and electrical infrastructure, evaluation of tenders and contract scopes, and implementation of vital public and private utility systems.

My journey also includes rich experience in quality control, chemical process management, and maintenance engineering. As a former Production Chemist and Tractors and Transport Manager at the Bernard Lodge Division of the Sugar Company of Jamaica, I developed and managed production systems, maintenance programs, and compliance frameworks aligned with safety and operational standards.

Since 2016, I’ve worked as an independent consultant, where I’ve provided technical oversight and design solutions for a range of infrastructure and energy projects, continuing to represent SCJ Holdings in various technical matters, including electrical rerouting, pump system integrations, and machinery rehabilitation.

Beyond my core roles, I have continuously sought professional development through certifications in AutoCAD, Hydraulic Equipment Maintenance, Total Quality Management, Boiler Operations, and Safety Management. I am also a long-standing member of the Jamaica Association of Sugar Technologists.

Driven by a strong work ethic, analytical thinking, and a hands-on approach, I bring a unique blend of technical knowledge, operational insight, and leadership experience. Whether managing large-scale industrial projects, coordinating field operations, or optimizing internal systems, I remain committed to delivering results that balance innovation, efficiency, and sustainable growth.

In my downtime, I enjoy reading and swimming, activities that fuel my lifelong curiosity and provide balance to my professional endeavors.
