Lead and drive warranty performance reviews and continuous improvement actions for key Lear E-Systems Asia electronic and wiring commodities across 11 plants in Asia (China, Philippines, Thailand).
Lead the regular warranty performance trend review, root cause analysis, and improvement action/ plan review with senior management team for warranty issues impacting the customer scorecard and Lear’s financial performance.
Manage the timely escalation of significant warranty issues impacting vehicle safety and financial liability to the company to the senior management team for appropriate guidance and support.
Contributed $969K (June 2023) to operating income after identifying an opportunity from performing data analysis and forecast recalculation.
Engineering Product Leader, Product Management department, Feb 2015 – May 2019
LEAR Philippines Engineering Branch
Handled the full design and development responsibility of several Covers programs for Nissan CFM1 IPDM and took over existing programs from Lear-Valls until SOP (J32U CONV, P32R CONV, P71A, J32U HEV, P32R CAFC and L21B).
Achieved timely completion of Product Validation activities of handled programs despite challenges in working with in-house, off-shore and 3rd-party laboratories.
Effectively managed EDD budgets on two programs (P32R CAFC and L21B) and able to retain around $50k as savings. Pursued recovery of total validation cost of around $138k from YZ T&C plant.
Proactively collaborated with the plants (Lapulapu, Gabriela and YZ T&C) to discuss and investigate product issues; performed studies, simulations and replication of issues, and a series of DFM discussions to finally close dimensional issues.
Handled Nissan Global IPDM maintenance activities and the implementation CTO initiatives (W5/W6). Also, temporary took over the responsibility of DFL 322 and managed a successful PV including 3rd-party EMC testing in Spain until on-time SOP.
Established “3D scanning” as a regular “Parts Inspection activity” for Nissan plastic parts in conjuction with Polyworks application. Arranged several scanning trials with different suppliers to verify scanning machine output quality.
Initiated the investigation and discussion with Purchasing and SQA on the discrepancy of an injection supplier using a resin brand (same material type) different than what was used in a previous program. Performed material-level testing and application-level testing on the new resin brand to fully-validate.
Lead a team of cross-functional engineers in conducting Benchmarking activities on electronic and passive control modules from several competitors: Continental, Hella, Omron, Bosch, Sumitomo, others. Benchmarking reports were submitted to Lear-Valls and reviewed.
Performed impact evaluation of SCRs affecting several Nissan-Renault programs and prepared summary presentations to program manager.
Performed several RFQs for Nissan Covers and for Hyundai Battery Monitoring/Diagnostic Sensor (BMS/BDS).
Test Supervisor, OOP department, July 2014 – January 2015
TERADYNE Philippines Limited
Responsible for the test and repair operation of large PCB boards under service warranty for several out-of-production automated test equipment for the semiconductor industry (Analog Devices, Infineon, On-Semi, Texas Instrument, NXP, ST Micro, others).
Supervised a team of planners, test engineers, and two repair supervisors with twenty-one technicians.
Project Leader, Program Management department, July 2004 – May 2007
LEAR Automotive Services (Netherlands) B.V. - Philippine Branch, PETC
Worked one year in Valls, Spain with a team of selected Filipino engineers that acquired and transferred to Philippines the Smart Junction Box product Technology and Know-how which covers: Hardware Development, Software Development, Electronic PCB Design & Assembly, Metals & Plastics Design, Laboratory Tests, Manufacturing Tooling and Equipment, Logistics, Purchasing and Production.
Managed and executed activities to transfer the manufacturing location of one program from Spain to Philippines and later took over fully the management of the said program.
Implemented new model year changes on existing program and lead industrial studies on new programs request-for-quotation.
Championed generation and implementation of cost-saving proposals worth $1.7M and $200K in 2006; $570K and 320K in annual savings in 2007 for two programs, respectively.
Team Leader (Asst. Manager), Electrical Design Support department, June 2003 – July 2004
LEAR Automotive Services (Netherlands) B.V. - Philippine Branch, PETC
Lead and supervised five department sections with five Lead Engineers directly reporting and supervising over a total of seventy CAD engineers, employing several high-end 3D CAD capabilities to implement different engineering design changes on wire harnesses supplied to the big three US car makers, European and Asian OEMs. 3D CAD applications used includes UniGraphics, CATIAv5, IDEAS, and Hypermesh. AutoCAD, TransCABLE, CapitalH and EDGS for 2D applications.
Championed the department to comply and pass the annual ISO 9000 audit with ZERO non-conformity.
Championed the department to generate cost-saving ideas which amounted $6.3K annual soft-savings and $2.1K hard savings.
Hired eight additional design engineers to support increasing workloads in the different CAD groups.
Sent two design engineers to Portugal and Japan to acquire new skills and bring new workloads to Cebu, Philippines.
Lead Engineer (Supervisor), Electrical Design Support department, April 2002 – June 2003
LEAR Automotive Services (Netherlands) B.V. - Philippine Branch, PETC
