SATS and Air India
Ink Joint Venture Agreement
Singapore, 16 April 2010 –
Singapore Airport Terminal
Services (SATS) and Air India
signed an agreement to form
a single 50:50 joint venture (JV)
company that would serve as
the vehicle to house their three
existing ground and cargo
handling JVs in Bangalore
and Hyderabad.
To be named Air India SATS Airport
Services Private Limited (AISATS),
the JV company is in the process
of being incorporated in Delhi.
In September 2008, SATS was
chosen by Air India as its JV partner
for ground handling in India. Prior to
that, both companies have already
collaborated in Hyderabad and
Bangalore under three separate
JVs, providing ground and cargo
handling services since the opening
of the new airports in March and
May 2008 respectively. However, the
incorporation of these JVs was held
back, pending Air India’s plans to
select a strategic ground handling
partner at the other metro airports in
India, like Delhi and Mumbai where
world class ground handling is
required.
The incorporation of AISATS, which
is expected to be completed next
month, will provide a legal entity
to house the existing operations
in Bangalore and Hyderabad and
potential operations in other metro
airports. Air India and SATS will each
nominate three representatives as
Board members of AISATS.
Said Mr Clement Woon, President &
Chief Executive Officer of SATS: “Our
successful cooperation with Air India

Staff of the Year 2009
Award Ceremony – Hyderabad
“At the outset I would like
to take this opportunity to
that BLR station was declared
as the Best Managed Station
in India. This could not be
possible without you and
your team support.”
JAMES D. SAVIO

“...the disruption of flights
during volcanic ashes in
Iceland, we have had to
handle passengers for about
5 days who were stranded in
BLR.
AISATS Hyderabad started its staff
of the month and staff of the year
awards scheme in January 2009.
The idea of these awards is to
motivate staff to consistently provide
good service to our clients. To be fair
to all staff, Passenger Services and
Corporate Office staff were clubbed
in one group, while the Ramp Services
and Maintenance Centre staff were
clubbed in a second group.
Each month a winner is chosen
from each group and a monthly
presentation of a plaque, certificate
and cash award is given to these two
winners. From the pool of twenty four
winners, a staff of the year from each
group was selected. Mutliple winners
and those who consistently performed
well are factored into the choice of the
staff of the year winner.
For the year 2009, we are proud to
announce that the winners for each
of the two groups are Passenger
Services Supervisor Mr. M. Satish
Kumar and Maintenance Centre
Foreman Mr. B. Sunil Kumar. Both
of these staff showed consistently
high standards throughout the year in
addition to previously winning the staff
of the month award.
To honour these two star performers,
a presentation ceremony and lunch
was held on 9 April 2010 at the
Flavours of India Foodcourt at RGIA
in HYD. In addition to management
and other staff of AISATS, our guests
included Senior Safety Manager
NACIL, Senior Security Manager
NACIL, Airport Manager NACIL,
Airport Services Manager Emirates
and Airport Services Manager Thai
Airways.
In addition to the staff of the year
award, the staff of the month awards
for January to March 2010 were
also presented at this ceremony.
This presentation ceremony was
well received by our staff judging
from the presence of 420 staff at
this ceremony. It is hoped that our
HYD staff will been enthused and
motivated to continue providing the
best possible ground service to all
our customer airlines.
Under all this stressful
situation your teams worked
very well and helped us
handle the situation.”
