Location: Njoro, Nakuru.
Concise Milling Ltd is a medium scale maize mill. We started operating in 2018. Our flagship brand is ‘Concise maize meal’ which is sold within the greater Nakuru area and parts of Kericho County. The mill has recently -) been upgraded and can process 24 tons of maize per 24 hours.
We decided to introduce an animal feed line in 2020 to make use of the maize germ produced by the mill. We began manufacturing dairy meal, poultry feed, pig feed, dog meal as well as sell animal feed raw materials.
As the owner of the mill I have been directly involved in the business, performing all tasks required before we could afford to employ people for those roles.
Currently, my roles include:
1. Procurement responsibilities
Spearheading the sourcing of maize and essential raw materials for the mill, necessitating cross-border supplier relationships with sources in Uganda and Tanzania to address Kenya's maize shortage.
2. Operations Oversight:
Directing the maize milling process to ensure consistent flour yield within specified quality and yield parameters.
3. Compliance and Quality Assurance:
Ensuring mill operations conform to stringent standards set by KEBS, County government regulations, and HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) guidelines.
4. Team Management:
Managing the performance of the sales team, fostering a dynamic and results-driven work environment.
5. Financial Duties:
Administering supplier payments and handling salary processing, contributing to a seamless financial workflow.
6. Professional Development:
Actively participating in workshops organized by NGOs, regulatory bodies, and grain millers associations to stay updated on industry best practices.
7. Quality Control:
Overseeing the mandatory analysis of samples for aflatoxin content in compliance with legal requirements.
8. Pricing Strategy:
Establishing product prices based on input costs, ensuring competitiveness and profitability.
9. Cost Optimization:
Adapting animal feed formulations when raw material prices fluctuate to achieve the most cost-effective feed formulations.

Conducting periodic reconciliations to verify the accuracy of transactions across various platforms, including the POS system, stock movements, manual records, and bank deposits.

Dalbit Petroleum is an Oil Marketing Company that specializes in wholesale distribution and storage of petroleum products across Central, Southern and Eastern Africa.
As an Operations Assistant in charge of the depot, my duties entailed the following:
1. Truck Monitoring:
Vigilantly monitoring trucks in transit to the depot, promptly addressing any road-related issues that may arise during their journey to our depot.
2. Import Truck Management:
Overseeing the receipt and management of import trucks within the depot.
3. Efficient Dipping and Clearance:
Managing the dipping process of trucks and coordinating clearance procedures to facilitate smooth offloading operations.
