Applied Social Studies in Social Care studied in St.Patricks College Carlow, where I have achieved a Higher Certificate in subjects including, Family studies, Disability Studies, Psychology, Social Policy, Social Care, Creative studies and Legal studies.
I have gained my Level 8 in Applied Social Care in Carlow IT.
Work Experience:
July 2006- February 2007:
Vivo shop in Ballon,
Duties included: Opening and closing shop, handling money and using the cash register, dealing with customers, stocking store, using the credit card and lottery machine.
February 2007- May 2011:
Ballykealy Manor Hotel,
Duties include: General waitressing work, Some reception work e.g. taking bookings,answering calls, dealing with queries and taking payments.Dealing with customers and complaints, setting up and organising the functioning room and restaurant, handling money, general clean-up of the kitchen,bedrooms,fuctionion room and restaurant. Using various machines e.g. coffee machine and cash register.

Working with people with intellectual disabilities, mental health issues, addiction, autism, brain injuries and challenging behaviour. Identifying needs, advocating for service users, accompanying to appointments and supporting service users. Recording files/logs/kardex and administering medication, completing risk assessments, completing transitions, key working. Under the new ways of working system I took on the role of house administrator which included updated personal plans, putting together daily plans and presenting weekly reports to the team leader.
Within the company I have also spent a number of months working in the homecare department due to emergency cases. While there I became more involved with outreach programmes and community inclusion.
Before employment I spent three months with Nua Healthcare on work placement.

Children within the services are supported with a range of issues including mental health, domestic violence, intellectual disabilities and challenging behaviour.
