PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
SLING TELEVISION (DISH NETWORK)
6/2019 – PRESENT
CSRE; Site Reliability Engineer (Engineer II)
• Started as Central SRE, which involved monitoring several status boards to maintain the
health of the Sling TV application. CSREs served as Incident Commander during
production incidents, directing the bridge, keeping involved players on task, and
documenting the incident from start to resolution. Utilized tools such as Pager Duty, Splunk,
Conviva, New Relic, and various internal dashboards.
• Promoted to SRE to serve as the Operations representative for the Roku and Apple client
platforms. This included verifying integrity of updates to those applications, making
changes to configuration files as requested by the development team, and working with the
devs/project manager for those teams to plan, execute, and monitor all changes to those
platforms.
• Expanded on Linux Administration knowledge to better troubleshoot and analyze log data,
which helped to minimize duration of production incidents as both CSRE and SRE.
BLUE COAT SYSTEMS/SYMANTEC CORP
5/2016 – 6/2019
Web Security Analyst Intern; Threat Analyst I
• Received customer requests to recategorize URLs and IP Addresses that they believed
should or should not be considered malicious in nature. Used third party sources such as
VirusTotal and Sucuri along with internal tools and network traffic analysis to make a
judgment of whether the address should be put into a security category or not.
•
•
Provided clear and detailed responses when explaining the reasoning behind choosing a
category for an address, especially if the decision conflicted with what a customer
requested. This reduced confusion and escalations and established strong working
relationships between the team and the customers.
Learned regular expressions on the job to search traffic database for common patterns in
malicious URLs, ensuring the highest possible coverage on known threats including but
not limited to Locky ransomware, exploit kits such as Angler, Neutrino, and RIG, and
spam/scam campaigns.
BLUEHOST
6/2015 – 10/2017
Web Advisor; Sr. Web Advisor; Server Professional (Part Time)
• Learned WordPress and exercised proficiency in DNS, Domains, Email, and other facets
of web hosting to provide a high level of support to Bluehost customers, resulting in an
above-average NPS each month while on front-line support.
• Promoted to Sr. Web Advisor to provide internal support to web advisors when they needed
help understanding complex issues or needed extra training.
• Handled all PCI Compliance-related inquiries for Shared hosting customers. Received
ASV reports from customers who needed compliance, and responded to each failure with
a high-level explanation of how that failure could be resolved, from simply closing certain
insecure ports to providing changelogs and occasionally escalating vulnerabilities that were
not yet patched to the administrators in the data center.
• Promoted to Server Professional, which included terms of service issues as well as
supporting customers using the more advanced VPS/Dedicated hosting platforms. This
required a more in-depth understanding of bash, SSH, cPanel, and root-access commands,
and assisting customers who were more technically knowledgeable than those using the
cheaper and more restrictive Shared hosting platform.
