Julio Salguero

I’m a Senior Software Engineer with over 6 years of experience developing robust and scalable web applications, primarily using Ruby on Rails and Laravel. Throughout my career, I’ve worked across the full development lifecycle—from concept and architecture to deployment and maintenance—delivering software that balances performance, maintainability, and business value.

My main focus is backend development, but I’m also comfortable across the stack, working with JavaScript frameworks, modern tooling, and API design to create seamless integrations and smooth user experiences. I value clean, well-tested code, and I believe that good software architecture should make systems both resilient and easy to evolve over time.

I’ve collaborated with distributed teams in the U.S. and Latin America, contributing to high-growth SaaS platforms in industries like healthcare, fintech, and media. These experiences have strengthened my ability to communicate effectively, adapt quickly to changing priorities, and deliver reliable solutions in agile environments.

Beyond the code, I’m passionate about problem-solving and continuous learning. I enjoy mentoring junior developers, improving team workflows, and introducing practices that help projects scale without losing quality. I’m also a strong advocate of automation, documentation, and thoughtful refactoring to ensure long-term sustainability.

I currently work remotely from Guatemala, where I enjoy the flexibility to balance my professional and family life. Outside of work, I’m a musician at heart—I studied drums and play guitar self-taught—which has taught me creativity, rhythm, and teamwork, all of which I bring into my engineering mindset.
