I am an IT professional with a strong generalist skillset. I’ve worked in depth with both
Windows and Linux operating systems, on severs and workstations. I have worked with MS
Office, many email clients, and purpose-specific software like Yardi for property management.
I’ve worked with many purpose-specific applications and devices, like one would find in a retail
or warehouse setting for two examples.
As a programmer, I’m experienced working with databases and SQL, Python, Perl, BASH,
Javascript and VB.Net. I’m able to pick up other languages quickly, comfortable using
development environments from Visual Studio to vi.
I’m ideally looking for a long-term position which takes advantage of my knowledge of
computer hardware and software, but where I also get to interact with people on a regular
basis. I enjoy helping them solve problems using technology. Along those same lines, I am
good with keeping inventory, purchasing and budgeting, training users or junior IT staff, and
researching IT purchases to solve an issue within given constraints.
In terms of my interests and personality, I’m a fan of science fiction, history, and a wide variety
of music. Related to that last interest, my son is learning to be a jazz saxophonist. I’ve
volunteered in schools like Clayton Valley and Kimball Elementary helping to teach basic
computer science. In Concord, my wife and I organized a Makerspace where we held hands-
on science and technology events which were low or no cost to those who wished to attend.
